Product Description

About the Author

I discovered the triathlon world in 2005. It is fair to say I became slightly obsessed! This has probably happened to many of you. Triathletes tend to be an obsessive bunch. I love it- hey- there are worse things I could be obsessed about. Triathlon has been a massive force for good in my life and given me structure, superb fitness, a bunch of cool friends who kick my ass and a lot of travel opportunities. My favourite distance is Olympic and 70.3. I am planning Ironman in 2017. Triathlon has taught me some important lessons: To never give up no matter how hopeless it seems right now Pain is temporary, results last forever To set unrealistic goals and work through every obstacle to make it happen no matter what That no matter how rubbish you feel right now, things will get better-eventually No matter how much you prepare, things sometimes still go wrong- Keep a sense of humour And much more- I mean the lessons keep coming right? So what do I do now? I have written a best selling book, I am half way through my next book on 70.3, let me know if you want to go on the wait list for pre-launch). I am also fortunate to have been invited to write with the excellent team at Triathlon Hacks, I coach clients 1:1 and online and I still swim, bike, run. I think this is in my blood now- I don’t know that I will ever stop, though I certainly train smarter now and have added a lot of gym strength work, yoga and I am diligent with my nutrition. * I travel a lot and currently live in Asia * I love surfing- this feeds my soul and is my meditation * I love House of Cards and James Bond movies (I keep waiting for the call up to be the next Bond) * Family is super important to me- I have one gorgeous son name Toby- he is now 3 years old (and of course has his first bike-though my wife wont let me get him an aero helmet :)). * I am the best cook in our household- I absolutely love it, I love being creative and getting grateful “thumbs up’s” from my guests)

I did a number of Triathlons over the last few years. When I first took it up i had to ask peoples advice which at best was disjointed and worst confusing. I also read some very good stuff on the internet, however this was also disjointed and incomplete. This book would have been ideal, as it puts it all together clearly and concisely.
Interestingly, though I have some experience, this book was enlightening also as it provides clear insights into some of the things i have been doing wrong and suffering for I might add! Definitely a book to keep and refer to again and i again. I found myself highlighting various pieces with almost an "ohmygod" of course!
Now my wife wants to read it, as i mentioned a few things that have relevance even if you are not doing a triathlon but one of the disciplines!

I bought this book for my mum for her birthday because she is going to start doing triathlons. It really helped her to get more fit and it helped her learn the nutrition of a professional triathlon racer so she can get the best time.

The book was interesting and helpful for her, there was a lot of good Information about training (obviously), she liked the present from me.

This is an excellent read! I received this as a birthday present and as someone who applied for the London triathlon (completed a marathon but cannot swim), this book provides a huge insight of what it takes, the hours required, the optimal ways of training, typical mistakes, ways to get a better time, and provides a comprehensive guideline I MUST recommend to anyone looking to do a triathlon!

This is a great little book that has a wealth of information in it and covers all those questions that rookie triathletes like me are afraid to ask! It covers all aspects of triathlon from starting out to your first race day in an easy to understand way and makes you feel a whole lot better about taking up the challenge of swimming, biking and running.
Pictures would be nice and maybe a bit more information on specific training plans for different triathlon distances but overall I highly recommend this if you're new to triathlon and want to quickly get up to speed!

I have just finished reading this book which my brilliant friend bought me for Christmas. I mentioned that I wanted to do a Triathlon and had started training. This book has really inspired me to up my training and I have actually just signed up for my first super sprint Triathlon (you have to start somewhere right?). I am now really excited about taking part in my first triathlon and can't wait to make new friends. Before reading this book I was nervous about doing it, but now feel reassured and confident that I am not going to get laughed at for my slightly second hand bike, and now with the race day trips won't look like a complete novice who has not got a clue what they are doing. If you are thinking about or have signed up for a triathlon this book is a must have. I will be using it as my go to book, it has already been helpful in diagnosing my tight IT band and a friends Patellar Tendinitis. Thank you very much Dan Golding can't wait to start my Triathlon journey 😃😃

This book really covers everything you need to know for a first triathlon. I had done a couple of triathlons before but after a gap of 3 years found it hard to get the confidence to enter into another one but this book really helped me to get back on track. It's easy to read and brilliant for beginners to get an understanding of what to expect at a triathlon and how to trin for it. I will recommend it to my friends, thanks.

This book is perfect for beginners and those who want to go for the next step. All you need is in here from basic training styles and methodology to introducing the race day psychology. A good reference book to be used before and during the season.
