Hart and Vanni (Savannah) are both broken and lost souls, their pasts have shaped them into into who they are as people.
So when Hart is called to come home that his mum is in her final stage of her battle with cancer, being the good son he is he drops everything to be by her side, so when helping his aunt at her bar he's knocked over both literally and figuratively by Savannah, who also works and sings at the bar.
Hart is immediately taken by Vannies beauty and feels a connection between them. Hart is so good with Vannie and has the patience and understanding to help her deal with her beyond troubled past, because hers was an incredibly difficult one, but once she realises with the love she needs and family she's never had she can heal.
Hart and Vannie are the perfect match for each other and as they find love.
I've got to say the banter between Hart and his aunt Peaches was a highlight of the story too, kept the laughs among the sadness.

Both, Hart and Vannie have their own individual things they are going through. When these two finally connect, you can feel how much they need each other. The things they were going through nearly ripped my heart out, but the love, the chemistry, and the connection that these two had was enough to make me dry my eyes and keep reading.
I love this author. She keeps her books coming at a steady pace. Some I love more than others, but I’ve never found one yet that wasn’t well worth the money spent to read it. I do think if you haven’t read Royal Atlas or Gravity that would be an awesome place to start before you read this one. Although it isn’t necessary that you read them to enjoy this book, you will get to know some of the other characters and get their backstory, plus they are amazing books as well.
You see, Hart has this charming, easy-going, funny personality you can't help but connect and fall in love with. He is also very protective and complete swoon-worthy and scrumptious!!
Vannie is probably one of my most favorite female lead characters from all of HJ's books. She has a horribly heart-breaking and traumatic past that molds her into this amazing woman that you know is truly a genuinely good person. I loved seeing her slowly come out of her shell with Hart's help. His witty ways rubbed off on her in the best way possible. It was just what she was in need of.
This book, you guys...THIS. BOOK. I truly LOVED IT!!!! In fact, I will go as far as saying that this might just be my favorite in the series!! Hart is a book boyfriend you NEED in your life!! FIVE STARS!
I loved Peaches, his aunt - she was feisty and didn't take anything from anyone!
Savannah Ray aka Vannie aka Shug - a fighter from her early years, she's strong yet hides her past not only from others but from herself as well.
The heartbreak, hurt, pain and devastation that both Hart and Vannie endure seeps from the pages, their emotions are portrayed by HJ Bellus so well.
They're both lost in their pasts until their paths collide.
Not only is HJ Bellus able to give the readers a emotionally charged book but the laughter is always there in moments to lighten the heaviness of the story as well.
Another amazingly gripping story!
HJ Bellus certainly has a way of telling a story to make you feel every emotion the characters feel and takes you on the love story of Hart & Savannah Ray. Two beautiful souls that were truely meant to travel through life together.
Another five star plus read from the Queen of Romance. Highly recommend you readers first two books of this series Royal Atlas and Gravity before reading The Traveller.
Hart is one of the army brother's, great uncle by day & notorious playboy by night. Until his life gets turned upside down, when his mother finally succumbs to her illness. Hart returns home to help care for his mother but what he didn't expect was Vannie.
Another truly hartwarming story!!!
