Product Description

Starring David Essex and Billy Cook, Traveller is the story of Owen McBride, a half-breed Gypsy who struggles with his identity, but is reluctant to cut the final thread with the disappearing Traveller world.

As a favour to a friend, Owen gets involved in a botched robbery and goes on the run from a murderous gangster. He finds refuge with a Gypsy horse dealer (David Essex), but the Gorja world soon collides with the Gypsy world and Owen is involved in a deadly climax and a blood-flecked fight to the finish.

I enjoyed this film and there are some great performances from the central characters. It just went a bit silly at times with a bit of unconvincing dialogue now and again - but overall it has an enjoyable narrative arc and some great comedy moments. Watch out for David Essex kicking the bucket - very funny!

I am a big David Essex fan/follower. To be honest i would not have bought this if he hadnt been in ithe film.
Like David i am a descendant from travellers but this film did nothing for me. The story line was boring, some of the acting was atrocious and there is nothing exciting about it, especially after all the hype in the media. I certainly would not recommend it.

A good story that tells how even in the gypsy community a person can be felt to be an outsider just because long their parentage. I enjoyed it very much although you didn't actually see the horse trainer at work (played by David Essex) but two other men doing the work on his instructions. I suppose he was taking a back seater as his son was playing the lead. The music however made up for it as only David Essex fans would appreciate.

Fantastic film but anything with David Essex in it, in my book, would be excellent. Bill Cook, his son, is also excellent.

Was looking so forward to this film. Acting is terrible .The soundtrack compiles of a new Jazzy version of Lamplight which is good. The rest of the film continuously plays the instrumental version of "Are you still my true love " from the 1978 Imperial Wizard album.

Billy Cook (David Essex' son) is utterly believable as the 'in-betweener' not sure where his loyalties lie. Half Gypsy half Gorgio (non-Gypsy) he is floundering and aimless. At times violen,t at times funny. With a cast of great actors( some well known) and with David Essex as a Gypsy godfather figure it is a gripping film. The musical score by David Essex is haunting with other musical contributions by Billy Cook and Brogue are excellent. The soundtrack album is very worth a listen!
