All ten episodes of the Icelandic crime drama. When a corpse is washed-up in the remote town of Seyðisfjörður, and discovered by passengers on an incoming ferry from Denmark, Chief of Police Andri Olafssun (Ólafur Darri Ólafsson) leads the investigation to solve the case. He quickly deduces the killer must be on board the ferry and forbids the 300 passengers from disembarking until he can make further enquiries. But with a severe snowstorm imminent Andri and his small team must work quickly and without any backup to solve the mystery while the trapped townspeople and tourists eagerly await their verdict.

Highly atmospheric Nordic Noir this. No faking of the cold - sometimes conditions so atrocious, it was hard to get cast and crew to where they should be.
Everything impresses. All characters convince, they multi-dimensional - good ones with flaws, certain miscreants with redeeming features (admittedly a few past redemption). Genuine tension, real sense of danger, everything culminating in a worthy climax.
Subtitles no problem, especially as most cast say little anyway.
Ten episodes. A bonus tells of difficulties encountered when filming, this the most expensive film project ever mounted in Iceland. Happily it has proved worthwhile, the production acclaimed in so many countries.
Watching episodes in quick succession, as ever, increases impact - at the end viewers thus able to appreciate all the more certain comments made at the very start.
Just back from Iceland, went to the two towns where it was filmed. Had to drive through snow and ice to get to Seydisfjoerdur, where the ferry scenes were filmed, spooky. At Siglufjordur it there was filming going on, is that the next series I ask?
Excellent series and we hope there will be more. The producer said he hoped it would make it to the US and we're Southern Californians so it did & it was well received!
The title role of Andri is a very sympathetic character. He is a excellent Police man AS ARE HIS COLLEAGUES..
This one is set in ICELAND and if you have a very large screen the views of the Mountains of Ice is fabulous too. I am presently half way through watching it again. Great Cinema with natural snow landscape which I from Australia am unfamiliar with. So I loved it. Nice to see and not feel. I wondered how do they drive in so much snow ?!!! It is June in Adelaide and yesterday we had 21%C.
This does not disappoint, well worth the buy. Let's hope we see more from ICELAND.
The language was very different to Denmark and Sweden although they all share many common words.
Dark, mysterious with a twist that came so left of field I was left agape. The acting is great and is heades up by the Icelandic/American actor Olafur Darri Olafsson who oozes charisma and sex appeal - his performance is magnetic.
