Really worth the watchI really made a huge connection with this show and found it very emotional, it is shows like these that make you realise just how great the power of a story can be.It really made me think about many things and I can't really say how much it meant to me. I can't wait for the next season, I loved how every character grew in their own way. Most of us don't really know what to do with our feelings half of the time and I hope people can get half of what I got by watching this show...

Really fine acting from all the castA truly remarkable insight into the inner workings of the family, ...the individuals, the unit and the connections that bind them which are both seen and unseen. The whole trans thing becomes almost incidental but adds a dimension which eliminates the pedestal we sometimes make for our parents from which we never truly see how human they really are. Really fine acting from all the cast, and this cast and production team truly deserve all the accolades they've enjoyed. A must see for those with an open mind, and a must see for those with a mind just a bit ajar, and maybe dare not look.

bloody excellentThe best thing I've seen in years. The writing, acting, directing and production are brilliant. This is such a fantastic show. I just hope that if more series are done that the writing and production values remain at this high standard. I absolutely love this show

Perfect in every respectThis is just a pitch perfect dark comedy which has a great script and equally amazing actors. It shows that VOD has virtually limitless freedom compared to heavily regulated public broadcast TV.
I expected a laugh out loud comedy but this is a slow burning but never boring dark comedy. I recommend watching at least the first two episodes because it takes a while until you get to know all family members. I kept guessing many times how the plot would evolve in the next episode and I was surprised every time that it took a different turn against many standard comedies would take. It's very engaging till the last second of the last episode and I'm eagerly awaiting season 2.

Watch, highly reccomendedI rarely review, but I loved this series. Warm, funny, sentimental, but complex enough to be touching and thought-provoking. I would love to see another series. I have to applaud Amazon for going against the current blockbuster grain and producing something on a more human level.

An intelligently constructed, beautiful-looking series that is unafraid and unashamed ...Finally! An intelligently constructed, beautiful-looking series that is unafraid and unashamed to show how flawed and complex we humans can be. Highly recommended if you seek something more(/Maura) and are willing and able to suspend expectations and subjectivity, in terms of both the 'traditional' comedy-drama format and love/relationships/family generally. Ridiculously eager for series 2.
