About the Author

According to this book, since 2010, there has been an "academic consensus on the role and use of the mother tongue" and the consensus is that it can be very useful in language teaching. I can tell you from experience that this "academic consensus" hasn't been properly revealed to the rest of the world.

Hopefully this book and others like it will get around enough to combat the ignorance of academic policy makers who are forcing teachers to teach with one hand tied behind their backs.

There are a lot of great ideas in this book, but most of them are easy enough to come up with on one's own. If one is bilingual and has been teaching for a while, one has probably experimented with most of these activities already. The important thing that this book does is justify and support the use of own-language activities.
