HASH(0x88b39ba0) out of 5 stars Outstanding!!! 27 Nov. 2012
By Andrew K - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
I've found this book especially helpful because it not only discusses some specific issues with Japanese translation (e.g translating haiku, honorific expressions etc), but also has a section dealing with analysing Japanese sentences, step-by-step. There are no exercises to do as such, but that suits me because I can read it on the bus going to and from work without needing to carry a pen or make notes. I've already finished reading it once, and have started reading it a second time. After so many years of studying Japanese, I can feel some real improvement. The other reviewer used the term 'scatter-brained at times', but I found no such thing. I honestly can't see what he/she is basing such a comment on. I think its incredibly well-written, and so have no hesitation giving it the highest rating.

HASH(0x88b30f18) out of 5 stars Just okay... 20 Feb. 2011
By mr - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
I think this is a quality book which presents some good points, however, the writing is a little bit scatter-brained and they never quite give clear definitions. I'd consider it a decent book for learning concepts involved with translating...
