- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 10 January 2004Format: PaperbackI have read many transistor books but this is one of my favourite. It may not contain all the information on transistors but it does have some good qualities. The book is able to make the reader understand transistor in greater depth even when using complicated models. The book also contains circuits that are more useful than other books. The book could either be kept as reference or can be read cover to cover, its only 220 pages. If there reader needs mores in-depth information then the next step would be to start reading technical journals.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 11 November 2013Format: PaperbackVerified Purchaseim studying a hnc/hnd in electrical and electronic engineering,im a electrician and have done only a little bit with transistors, this book is excellent for the theroy of transistors,i would have given it 5 stars but feal it coul do with one or two more examples in it,as i found myself refering to my own small amount of knowledge to understand what it was explaining so might not be the best for complete starters.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 13 November 2006This book is a bit hard to read: it has a bit too much text, and is not that good for beginners.
It's also very small and thin for £45.
Alas, it's required reading for electronics degrees - can't anyone rescue us from this dreadful little book?
...I've change my mind a bit since then; but I still think it could do with a re-write and more diagrammes.
It IS the best book about transistors that I've come across... but probably not as good as the notes you'd get in university.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 7 May 2013Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseI found this book to be a good, concise book on transistor circuit operation and design. It doesn't get into heavy maths, but contains many worked examples and good explanations of how things function. I was able to design and build some operational transistor based circuits using the information it provides.

David HolmesReviewed in the Netherlands on 4 November 20235.0 out of 5 stars Best introductory book on transistors!
Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseBachelor student EE here, course did some basic transistor circuits and we got the hybrid-pi model and the MOSFET equivalent but most of the time it was calculating noise, bandwidth and gain of op-amp circuits. Book has been an amazing gateway to the world of transistor amplifiers!

Cover the most important BJT configuration you should know about. Small book but usefull.
CalcReviewed in the United States on 21 May 20135.0 out of 5 stars Great Electronics Book
Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseThis is one of the best electronics books I've read. It thoroughly explains concepts without cramming too many design examples, quizzes, and other side notes into the text. If you have been looking for a book that directly explains basic electronics concepts and gives excellent design examples, and practice problems, this is your book.
P.S. I own The Art of Electronics, the so-called "bible" of electronics, and it is for sure, but this book explains the basic and even intermediate/advanced concepts much better. The Art of Electronics is almost like an encyclopedia of electronics. That is, it's much more a reference book for practicing engineers and researchers in a university or company. In that book, the reader is assumed to have a fairly good working knowledge of electronics.

Format: PaperbackVerified PurchaseExcellent Text!! Highly recommend to anyone who wants to understand Transistors , Fets, Op-Amps, and overall IC techniques. Wish It was around when I was in school
