Awesome looking toy.... Brought for my son's 7th Birthday and its definitely got the wow factor, if your kids like Transformer Movies then they will love this toy. After about an hour of playing with it he then decided it was time to Transform into Truck mode, 10 minutes later Dad was involved, 20 minutes later his Uncle was involved, 30 minutes later Granddad was manipulating the toy & finally Great Granddad got impatient and sorted the bloody thing out!

Great Toy, requires a degree in plastic robot origami.

(great granddad available for rent if required)

Just bought this for my 10 yr old son's birthday and was the ONLY gift to get the 'WOW' factor. I didn't purchase from Amazon (cheaper from well known trade and public 'cost' 'company') but nonetheless he has already transformed it into the various options available using very easy to follow & detailed instructions.

It is easy to manipulate, seems quite sturdy and having the trailer complete means it really does look like Optimus the Truck when not being transformed (which has the added advantage of there being no 'extra' parts to get lost under the sofa or swallowed by the vacuum - a mum's worst nightmare).

Overall my son is really pleased, having wanted one for years. The age range states from 5yrs old but it would be tricky to transform for small fingers and I personally think that 5 is quite young for this toy.

My younger son (nearly 9 yrs old) is now desperate for Bumble Bee so hope that performs as well as Optimus Prime!!

this thing looks as amazing in real life as it does in the picture but it is not without it's problems:
The wings with the wheels are prone to detach. This may be a design feature to stop them actually breaking but it is still annoying.
The robot mode without the trailer weapons platform is terrible. The arms look bad because there is nothing to transform the front of the truck. you are left with two parts of the front end which are chunky and annoying. Also the feet are not movable so you are limited in the way of poses. Also there are shoulder flaps that work for the ultimate version but not the robot on it's own. They also look bad.
My biggest problem is if you, like i have, collected the leader class DOTM figures you will be disappointed that the robot mode is not to scale with sentinel, ironhide and bumblebee.

There are many problems with this toy but i still think it is fantastic, if only for a display piece because of how limited in moveability the figure is both in ultimate and robot mode.
If you really want this, try not to spend over £90...

My son was really excited to receive this toy for christmas. However, he was quite disapointed as were we at how complicated it is to transform, with approx 80 steps to follow!! Although an older child may be able to cope with this I don't feel it should be marketed from 5 years of age.

...how complicated is this? Beyond even the capabilities of a seven year old and I thought they could do Anything! As I left the birthday party, Dad and uncles were still trying to make it change into whatever it changes into. And when it's done I doubt that the child will be allowed to try and reverse the procedure after all the time and effort taken to get it sorted. Very impressive looking thing, but during 'transformation' a couple of bits came off which caused me near-hysteria after what it cost, but they did click back on again eventually. It'll end up sitting on the shelf looking fragile. For nimble-fingered adult enthusiasts only, I'd say....

I've been wanting this Optimus Prime figure for so long and now finally I found one on the Amazon, which is really cheap. It is so big when you have everything fixed up, so gigantic, and it really makes a great piece if display! Though sometimes it hurts my fingers to fix it, but it is really worth it if you really admire the details of the figure. Overall, nice and big!

My 8yr old son loved this toy for his birthday. I can recommend this toy for a present but please be aware that it is quite complicated to transform into Optimus Prime and back into a truck. Only for patient children and dad's :)

Easy to put together took less than 20 minutes and found it easier without using instructions. How people can't this together is beyond me. My son loves it as well : )
