Picking up straight after the Infiltration story, this story has shock and surprises, as the story progress! As the Decepticons start up phase 2 of their plans for Earth, Optimus & Megatron confront each other in a spectator battle. Meantime Ironhide and their human allies begin a investigation into a strange organization that knows about the Transformers existence on earth!

This story leads into the Devastation story. If you read Infiltration and liked it, then this it a must get!

I may have been miffed about the price (paid it anyway to complete my collection), but the story is excellent. Picking up the pace from Infiltration and well supported by Spotlight 1. Its especially good to see the Decepticons manipulating human conflicts and old school autobots (Prowl's unit) getting some real action in. Top stuff, and EJ Su's artwork is fantastic once again. There's not too much on the expansion storyline here, but it's all coming together soon...

HASH(0x8c71e948) out of 5 stars IDW = Perfection 9 Sept. 2007
By T. Poe - Published on Amazon.com

What can I say? I've always loved Transformers and finally there's a comic that lives up to the concept. While still being written by the same man who has been writing Transformers stories for just about as long as there are have been TF comics, Simon Furman, the IDW reboot gives a much needed chance to breath fresh air into a cluttered and stuffy story.

The modernized take, revised designs are all in service of the characters I've known and loved, yet they are presented in a fresh, detailed and intelligent manner. Truly this is THE TF comic for long-time fans.

Escalation is my favorite, so far, of the series, and I look forward to the future additions.

HASH(0x8c701018) out of 5 stars Things are Heating Up 23 Aug. 2007

Furman does his usual excellent job of crafting an exciting storyline, even on Earth in the modern day. As the continuation of the "Reboot" of the classic G1 characters, this collection really makes for a great read. Plus, there's some great Optimus/Megs one-on-one for old time slugfest fans.

Great book overall, well worth picking up.
HASH(0x8c6fdf00) out of 5 stars An enjoyable read for the die hard Transformers fan. 18 Mar. 2013
By Road Rocket - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
Picking up directly after the events of Transformers: Infiltration, Escalation abandons Infiltration's straight forward, mostly self contained story for one almost completely devoted to setting up multiple upcoming stories. That's right; It's 134 pages of explosions and exposition. Whats unfortunate about this is that most of those upcoming stories are either abandoned, or rushed through haphazardly. That means that in the end, while still featuring Furman's tight writing and Su's sharp artwork, this book ends up as being nothing but a buildup for a pay off that never comes.

Recommended only for the most die hard Transformers fan, or fans of Transformers:Infiltration. All others will be very lost, and very disappointed.

If your following the idw transformers story, or just jumped in to the story; this is a must read. It helps to build the story for the current "All Hail Megatron" series. And if you like Transformers (the real transformers, not that micheal bay crap)then this is a must read for you. Its a new twist on the old G1 characters. Must read this to get up to the new Megatron story.
