TF G1- the episodes, back tk the 80s <3

Set is ok. Seems that if you look it up on the net and you take the two most used Transformers Wikipedia sites, they tell me that the order of the episodes should have been different. But its not that bad, in total about 7 episodes should be put in a different order. The quality is not great, but thats ok as I didnot expect HD. The most annoying part is the menu and the amount of manual effort to switch bewteen episodes and/or scroll.

Though a bit corny this benchmark 80's aged surprisingly well.
It has more heart than most if not all heirs albeit a bit more cheesy than series like Prime or Beast Wars.
The foundation of Transformers still deserves all the respect.

Ah, what a misspent childhood I had.

The G1 cartoon is a wonderful piece of cheese, pops, bangs, lazer zaps and maniacal laughing marketed to kids, to sell merchandise promote a massive (and ever growing) range of toys. Each week an array of brightly coloured robots line up, beat each other up for a bit, foil each others plans, and find themselves back at square 0. Little progress is really made, barring occasional completely unexplained bases being built or warriors appearing.

But who is analysing this for its serious merits? I'm watching it to reminisce and stare in childish wonder.

As a true G1'er, I only wish that the TV Show shared some continuity with the Comic Books by Simon Furman (Marvel UK writer) who put out the best and the brightest plots and stories for the better part of a decade. Instead the show follows loosely the US story arc that isn't anywhere near as strong.

This is one for the fans.

Grumbles:
- Sound is occasionally uneven.
- Lots of packaging - although I like the visual impact of the whole collection.
- No attempt to re-master the broadcast material.

I used to love transformers when I was younger and watched it every saturday, collected the toys and audio tapes and couldn't have been happier. It has been a few years since then and I have been reminising about old series I used to watch. I did a search on amazon to see if this series was still available, and to my surprise I find that it is in a boxed set with all the series and the film!!! Before I knew what had happened I had put in my card details and it was ordered :) The set came five days after I ordered it, was in excellent condition and I feel it was very good value for money. I was then able to watch all the episodes, filling in the episodes I was never able to see on tv. As we all know, they did show this but it never seemed to be fully in order and I missed epidodes, so I was finally able to experience the whole storyline, and also, I can keep it and pass it onto my son. I feel a lot of cartoons atm are lacking values that were in the 80s cartoons, transformers, thundercats, etc....
For anyone retro like me, buy this series!! it is well worth the money or it makes a great present :)

The TV series is fine, exactly how I remember it, but the packaging for the dvds could have been a lot better for the price that was paid. The outside box was torn within the first week just from taking out the dvd cases, which wasn't being done rough or anything like it. The cases themselves were very basic too, I'd just expect more from this collection.

can't remember exactly i say theirs about 60 episodes you should be able to find out on wwwimdb.com site this collection also includes the animated movie. every episodehase something exciting gonna happan with the good and the bad it never gets boring even for adults.

Das alle Folgen auf englisch sind ist nicht weiter schlimm,da es sich hierbei um ein leicht Verständliches Englisch handelt.Klasse ist auch das man für das Geld 100 Episoden(alle 4 Staffeln)plus den Zeichtrick Kinofilm bekommt!Außerdem gibt es auf den Scheiben noch das ein oder andere Fanquiz,Gagreel und Transformes Con zu sehen.
4 Sterne gibt es nur weil ich finde das man die DVD Cover hätte besser gestalten können und für die DVD Box hätte man ruhig dickere Pappe nehmen können.Fans der Roboter sollten aber zugreifen!

Die Anschaffung des UK DVD-Box-Set war jeden Euro wert, denn nichts geht über die gute alte Original-Version. Und als zusätzliches Schmankerl noch den Kinofilm von 1986, was will da der Fan mehr? Echt schön, die Stimme von Peter Cullen zu hören, der ja auch den Optimus Prime in der Realverfilmung von Michael Bay spricht.

Tja, was soll ich noch schreiben? Vincent Maloy hat bereits alles vorweggenommen. Ein herzliches Dankeschön noch dafür, dass er sich die Mühe gemacht, den Episoden-Inhalt hier aufzulisten.

Was soll man dazu noch sagen, die Box ist für jeden Transformer Fan ein muss und sie wird Ihren Preis gerecht. Sowohl Ton als auch Bildqualität könnten nicht besser sein, dafür das die Serie 1984 gezeichnet und ausgestrahlt wurde, die Synchro ist natürlich die orginal und damit unübertrefflich. Aber die Serie ist nicht nur mit Ihren 4 Staffeln komplett, sondern als Zusatz bekommt man auch noch "Transformers The Movie Reconstructed" dazu.

Einsiges Manko der Box, die DVD's sind nur in einen dünnen Karton gepackt und der war beschädigt, bevor ich überhaupt die Plastikhülle abgemacht habe. Ausserdem ist das doppelseitige Poster ziemlich klein, aber das ist nicht gleich der Weltuntergang. ^^
