Agree with Snakeyes. As I dont collect the individual transformers comics I expected this to be part 3 of the magnificent All Hail Megatron series. It is instead a series on one shot short stories focussing on 5 autobots. The stories do give some background into the events of All Hail.. though, and is still worth getting if you're enjoying the series. Makes me wonder what Vol 4's going to be like though...

I actually thought that the publisher had made some sort of mistake when it arrived. Rather than a continuation of the series, this is a five-Bot Spotlights offering, under the guise of being an instalment of AHM. When I saw the five robots in series on the cover I twigged that the only mistake was in the deliberate decision to misname it.

I was initially disappointed, since I was expecting a the same sort of thing as in the first two volumes, rather than a Spotlights-style offering. If we're honest, it's pretty unscrupulous of the publishers not to have this under the heading Spotlights, where it belongs, instead of using our expectations to make a sale which we might otherwise not choose.

As it happens I collect all of the IDW offerings, so it wasn't a problem for me, but I can see issues where a number of people who are only interested in the Megatron series buy this one under a false impression too.

The stories are fine, and I'd give them an extra star if they were titled appropriately.

I have thoroughly enjoyed the All Hail Megatron series so far. The writing has been brilliant and the artwork top notch. That's why when I received my anxiously awaited Vol. 3 I was more than a little disappointed that it was nothing more than a series of Spotlights on different Autobots. True, they do reveal more about some of the events that are tied to the AHM series, but my main complaint is that it was all Autobots. If you're a Decepticon fan, be prepared to be disappointed that none of your favourite baddies are featured in this volume. There are the occasional cameos, but that's the extent of it.

I suppose that it could be argued that when the whole of the series focuses on the Decepticons, it was fair enough to devote a volume to Autobots. Personally I would have found it far more intriguing to finally get to the nitty gritty of why some of the Decepticons are Decepticons.
