Product description

Product Description

Collection of four films in which the children's cartoon sci-fi series from the 1980s is brought bang up-to-date. In 'Transformers' (2007), long ago, on the planet of Cybertron, an alien race divided into two camps - the Autobots, and the evil Decepticons. In an effort to prevent the Decepticons from gaining possession of the 'Allspark', a cube with the capacity to grant infinite power, the Autobots managed to smuggle the object to Earth, where they secretly hid it. Now, hundreds of years later, with the Decepticons searching for the cube, it's a race against time, as the Autobots enlist the help of young earthling Sam Witwicky (Shia LaBeouf) to foil the Decepticons' plans for world domination. LaBeouf reprises his role as Sam in 'Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen' (2009). After he glimpses the truth about the ancient origins of the Transformers through a powerful vision sent to him by the Allspark, Sam once again finds himself the target of the evil Decepticons, who have returned to Earth under the command of the formidable Starscream (voice of Charles Adler). Joining the Autobots' mission to protect humankind is Optimus Prime (voice of Peter Cullen), who forms an alliance with international armies for this second epic battle. 'Transformers: Dark of the Moon' (2011) is the third entry in the film series. When the Autobots discover that a Cybertronian spacecraft is hidden on the Moon, a race against the Decepticons ensues as both sides battle to reach it first. LaBeouf, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson and John Turturro reprise their roles from the two previous films in the series, with English model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley joining the cast as Carly, a new love interest for Sam. Finally, in 'Transformers: Age of Extinction' (2014), four years after the invasion of Chicago, mechanic and single parent Cade Yeager (Mark Wahlberg) discovers what he believes to be a dilapidated truck and takes it home to repair. What he really has resting in his garage is a deactivated Optimus Prime. When government officials learn of the discovery they try to push humanitarian boundaries in the name of scientific development.

Bought these in a 'flash deal' during the Christmas sales, having seen the first movie.

I can't really criticise the box set of these films, all the movies are in a cardboard sleeve, individually packaged in a standard blu-ray case for each film. First three movies are standard retail single disc editions, the latest movie includes a bonus disc. Nothing exceptional to say about the cover designs for the movies, and the sleeve design is something of a budget afterthought in my mind, certainly not a 'box set' to get excited about on the shelf. It's a generic 'collection' and looks better with the individual spines facing out, rather than making a display of the box.

Saw the first movie and enjoyed what I saw. The effects lend themselves to high definition format, although they also need quite a large screen to make the most of the extremely busy visuals. The screen is certainly filled frequently with a lot of fast moving action. Nostalgia for the original television animation quickly gives way to engrossing action sequences, albeit somewhat devoid of credible plot, and I can't really get too excited about the transformation (no pun intended) of the principal characters into jive-talking, colloquially defined, samurai-esque manga robots from their more angular and less complex forebears. But hey... this is the Transformers we're talking about, not the latest Ridley Scott...

Honestly, the second and third films held my attention, but only just, and probably only because the story threads warranted completion.

I'm still not sure how to take the fourth movie. Is it a reboot? Or just a random time shift?

This arrived a day earlier than what we were expecting which was great. The outside of the box was okay but the clips inside the box were broken, which means the dvds wont stay in place. However, the dvds had no damage.

Not much you can say really, if you're a fan of these films then you'll love the blu-ray set, this one's particularly handy as it's region free meaning I could send it to my sister who lives in New Zealand without worrying whether or not it'd work on their blu-ray player. :-)

Great films but the first 3 lose a point for featuring "I am not famous!"

Seeing Age of Extinction at the Cinema I didn't enjoy it. Could have been cos the seats where uncomfortable for me. Wasn't due to people being rowdy as Only 3 in the cinema lol. But after watching this at home I really enjoyed it I could hear everything and see things i missed,. Fantastic Movies...Fun for all the family.... But I have to say BUMBLEBEE Rocks lol.
