The latest in the immensely popular Euphoria series of mixes is Psy-Trance Euphoria II. Mixed once again by the legendary John "00" Fleming, Psy-Trance Euphoria II features three CDs full of banging psy-trance tunes: CD One is entitled "Progressive Psy", CD Two is entitled "Deep N' Serious" and CD Three "The Fun Stuff!!!".

However the problem I find with this mix is the change in direction from the first in the series. It lacks depth and avoids tracks which are complicated and hypnotic (which is often why psy trance is so brilliant), and instead focuses more on the big stereotypical sounding tracks. Tracks such as `Exotik - Punch Sound' and `Earthling - Mystical' spring to mind.
The first disc has some nice mellow beats ending with some more upbeat dance floor movers such as `Astral Projection - One'. Disc 2 is where the cheese starts really and doesn't really do its `deep and serious' title any justice. Still though there are some good moments to be had on this disc.
Now for the third disc, the title of this chapter is aptly named `full on'. It starts off well, `4-Play -Heartbeat' is a relentless fast paced tune with an uplifting melody (great track), but then it kind of goes downhill. The next 4 or 5 tracks are quite boring and are almost tiring to listen to. 145bpm bassline, a few psychedelic vocals (which feel quite unnecessary) sung by robots and army generals.
All is not lost though as the disc does pick back up again..........before crashing into infected mushroom's `becoming insane'. Which I have to say isn't IM's best work.
To conclude, this mix has some decent tracks, but nothing more. The overall feeling is that it was a bit rushed and not a lot of thought was put into the track selection. New fans should check out the first euphoria psy trance album, its put together a lot better and is more worthy of representing the psy trance scene.
It's new, very cool, interesting and surprising. I enjoyed listening to it. I even enjoyed listening to the third CD, which is traditionally terrible in Euphoria boxed sets. It turned out to be a gem all of its own. This was well worth the money spent.
