5.0 out of 5 stars a book to treasure 12 Nov. 2007
By Leucippe - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover
Jewish paper cuts constitute one of the finest repertoires of folk art, lovingly elaborated and often awesome in the felicity of color and design. the previous reviewer was looking for a pattern book not an art book that displays in gorgeous color a number of the finest specimens, accompanied by informative texts. Today this art form has attracted increasing attention from serious artists as well, who have contributed to the resurgence of interest in these beautiful creations.
5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent documentation of a culture and its unique, enduring art form. 15 Nov. 2013
By Andrea Penn - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover Verified Purchase
This book is filled with excellent illustrations from many eras and cultures. They are very well documented and the commentary is both scholarly and easy to understand. The authors have created a history of a culture and of an enduring art form. I am particularly interested in the examples from my own European background, and certain subject matter, but the whole book is fascinating.
5.0 out of 5 stars Authentic 27 Aug. 2013
By DAVID MITZEL - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover
Joe and Dit Shadur were my great grandparents as well. They were amazing people and I wish they were still here today. Dit was the master mind and artist behind the paper cuts. She was a very talented artist.
