it is so sturdy, and will last for years, its a joy to watch him playing his music.
The Xylophone notes (all 3 of them!) are out of tune and no match for a basic cheap xylophone, you can't even play a reasonable tune on it, so little entertainment value to be found here.
My daughters loved drums and banging things but hardly used this one as the rope on the stick prevents her from getting a good thump in (it's quite short to avoid strangulation risk I would guess, but would be better if it were not attached). The triangle on a rope they never used on "the washboard" as it's on the reverse side of the drum and drums are more fun ;)
The turning wheel has a very small knob to hold and is quite stiff so you're going to need to do that for them until they are much older and can coordinate holding the bench with one hand and have a strong thumb and forefinger to grasp and turn the wheel.
The bell and cymbal are ok.
As a general toy - maybe a place for it for younger children, otherwise put your money into some of the individual instruments (e.g. drum, xylophone), the rest not sure they should be charging much for - it's pretty basic stuff. And this is the problem, it is too difficult for younger children/babies to use properly, and it is too simple for older children with the necessary strength and skills to be interested in.
Overall, an expensive purchase compared to many other presents, and one of the ones she has used the least.

My little one likes this, I think the string that has the drum stick attached, could do with being longer for better use of the product. Read morePublished on 21 July 2013 by Mrs. Le Morris
