This was a lovely book , well paced with likeable characters . It certainly is a feel good read , but well paced . I particularly liked the historic details about Ireland . I probably learned more in this book than I did at school ! I have downloaded another book and if this one is anything to go by , then I'm sure I will enjoy it !

I downloaded one of Jean Grainger's books onto my Kindle as it was either free or very cheap but I can honestly say that her writing is anything by cheap! Out of the 4 books of her's that I read one after the other, The Tour was my favourite. I was expecting something different and less meaty but the story was a delight from start to finish. Each member of the group stood out in my mind very clearly and the interaction between them all was very well written. I hope that Jean will be writing some more books along this vein as I am now totally addicted to reading about the Irish revolution and how it played out and also about modern times in those lovely rural areas around West Cork. More, more more!

The Tour, a first time novel by Jean Grainger, is a delightful read that makes you want to curl up on the couch in front of the fire as you can't help but become enveloped in the trial and tribulations of the characters.
I could not put the novel down and the more I read the story the better it got. I liked the fact that it was based in the south west of Ireland and it appears that Grainger has much intimate knowledge of the area.

I particularly liked the character of Ellen O' Donovan and her story and its link with West Cork during the War of Independence. Another interesting character is Corelene, the man eater, whose desperate attempts to find her fifth husband end in a debacle in Pajo's pub in Killarney.

I would highly recommend this novel and look forward to Grainger's next novel.

This is a lovely book, well written and full of good characters. The Tour describes one of the many led by Conor introducing tourists to his native Ireland. This group of visitors is a mixed bunch, many with agendas falling outside a mere holiday tour. Their interactions are initially tentative but grow as the group members get to know each other - and as we get to know them.
If I were being picky I would say there were a couple of small criticisms; one would be in the ease and speed of the final resolutions and perhaps some of the characters' back stories were a little sketchy but the easy gentleness of this book meant I was ready to forgive both.
Overall an enjoyable read, an ideal holiday companion.

In a start I was not sure of it, because this is not my genre of regular choice of reading, but I was pleasantly surprised to get hooked on it due to various characters and their life stories and all. Loved it.I recommend this book to everyone.

I loved this book so much! I always know a great book when I get completely caught up with the characters and am sad when I come to the end of it as I did with this little gem. I sometimes cried or laughed out loud at the characters antics or stories. Highly recommended!

Sometimes you pickup a freebie from Amazon that is a pure gem. That was the case with this book. It's not the most demanding book in the world but it is full of interesting characters and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
