I play all music except rap/hiphop. Favourites are progrock, folk, electronica and trance. Plus thouse who dare to mix this types.
The speed of the music from this album is not the most progressive or quickest, but there must be a reason why it still is one of my most played DVDs, especially late in evenings when my mode are slower!

The swedish group formed by lead guitarist Roine Stolt in 94 and still have most of the early crew. They are experimental both with guest musicians and in the way of playing. On this gig King Crimson drummer Pat Mastelotto join them, who sounds very good. Saying that, as a reference, my 2 King Crimson conserts are not often played, why? Besides, Im also very happy when Roine plays his guitar sequences.

I skip details since another 4stars review from 11 april 2013 is better than mine. Only thing I disagree from that review, is that the bass and drummer duel on "retropolis" is not at all boring (more likely its my favourite).

The show starts with a 30 minutes song, and it's the first time i saw a drummer reading his sheets on his drums. And it's no other then the King Crimson's drummer, Pat Mastelotto. It's followed by 2 tracks from my favorite Flower Kings's cd "Retropolis". Unfortunately, the song "Retropolis" is break down in the middle by a improvised bass and drums duel, i must say that the only moment i enjoy on this, is when the band get back slowly to the song.

The drums of Pat Mastelotto are heavier compare with the usual Flower Kings's drummer, but he fit well in this symphonic rock that has his King Crimson influence, the beginning of "Retropolis", for example. Pat create a little bit of sound effects with his electronic drums, throughout the performance.

If this is a bootleg, i would take any day this kind of bootleg, because the sound is clear, each instrument are clear in the mix. The picture is not perfect, but doesn't ruin the whole production. I enjoyed very much "Hudson River Sirens Call" with his psychedelic build up and the final song "The Sum of No Reason", for the heaviest guitar riffs from Roine Stolt.

Don't miss to read the booklet to find out what events occurs during this tour, one of them is told by Ronnie at the start of the show. Nice addition to a prog collection, and a must for a Flower Kings fan.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Music played live and well 31 May 2016

This DVD of the Flower Kings tour was recorded in 2007 after the release of one of their best albums "The Sum of No Evil" It is a well recorded DVD and has some of their best material. The only problem I encountered was that my copy was a region zero and would not play on my Sony DVD player. However, after I purchased a more advanced Yamaha bluray player the concert played in fine form and would be fun for any fan of the Flower kings.
