Think of the Film Noir style of movies from the middle of the last century, and especially, the soundtracks - music by great composers and great posers, inspiring a whole generation of pop and jazz musicians!
Well, it's been a while since anyone was brave enough to plunge their creative digits into that pool of sound vibes, without repeating what has already been exploited before! Urbs deserves a medal for his creative courage, and for the end result - a melancholy, fresh, now, sixties-soundtrack inspired sound that is perfect for late nights, stiff drinks, and smooth company.
The album is a lament for a love affair gone wrong - but without the workload of feeling sorry for himself!
Starting with a moody track and a delicious voice that recalls the heydays of Marlene Dietrich and other seductive singers, then winding and grooving it's way , picking up pace from track 6 (The Incident), until you feel let down by the fact the the album has an end! Ahhh, the Repeat Button!!!
Given the fact that Urbs is a member of the G-Stone family, and has the assistance/collaboration of dj Rodney Hunter, and all produced by Peter Kruder (Aum!), shows that this album is nothing, if not super quality creative sound!
It is weeks since last listening to the album, and still have the appropriately-titled track, Truly Majestic, vibrating through my inner lobes!
This album should be back-dated as THE album soundtrack of the Sixties!!! ;-) Thanks to the inspiration of Serge Gainsbourg, Ennio Morricone, Francois De Roubaix, among others!!!
Press play and show some lurve!
