As many other reviewers I found a lot of my files just missing...totally disappeared . I'm not a technical in computers although I worked in the field of internet connection. I had no problems with the cable,. Still use this device, yet many films have disappeared from the card. I read many reviews, and many complained of the same problem in this device and the cable and that because it works only 3 usb gates. Kepp indeed the same level / stand the device with computer. Do not take away in travels journeys. Is not so strong. Also I see that all the reviews from Toshiba are here together without difference of type device. You see 4000 reviews but they are for all kind types of Toshiba and not for the one that you have selected. So shame on Amazon for that. And the date of reviews are not in order. All the full positive came before then the other. From may 2014 it goes to november 2012!!! ...Then , 27 Mar. 2014...then , 7 Aug. 2013.....then 8 Nov. 2014.... ...so AMAZON IS LYING ON PRODUCTS REVIEWS. !!...Shame on Amazon !

I got this for my Not-so-techy Mum for a Christmas present and she still doesn't know how it works, but when I told her I'd put loads of family photos and all kinds of stuff on there for her, she got so excited and still keeps it in it's plastic bubble and box for protection even now. It works great and has never failed us yet. It's portable and easy to use. No need to install files before use and it just uses one USB cable to connect and boom, you're on your way! I love and my Mum loves it too, because she knows how easy it is to use too.

I've purchased two of these external drives (not at the same time). The second one that was a gift to my mother died 3 months later and it was replaced by Toshiba through the warranty online. I've had hard discs dying on me during warranty from almost all the companies.
Overall I am very pleased. Based on the times it has fallen from the TV stand (60cm high) and still works is one of the best external drives I've owned. It's speed is very good compared to other usb3 externals and flash drives that I own.

Start with the sync power lead, as this seems to be a concern with a number of reviewers, it's shorter and thinner than the Toshiba cable supplied with another Toshiba portable hard drive I purchased from PC world, however that's not to say it's in any way sub-standard, I don't see a problem with this personally, as for the hard drive itself, its well-made chunky but portable. It installed super-fast on my Dell Windows 7 Pro D630 laptop with 1.81 TB of usable free space. I'm transferring 841 GB onto this hard drive using USB 2 and Windows says about 9 hrs which is an estimate and I'm sure it won't take that long; I estimate based on experience 2 to 4 hrs which is fine by me. All in all I'm very happy with my new hard drive and I'm confident that the boffins at Toshiba haven't mughed me off with a substandard sync power lead .

What I can say id if you want to backup evrything or just store tons of data this is a reasonable priced device. It wored straight out of the box with an average Laptop no faffing around. as easy as you would hope for. Not complicated.

The first of these that I purchased completely stopped working within 6 months. The replacement, within 12 months, now has a defective cable. The drive is recognised by Windows 7 when plugged into a USB 2 port, but not when plugged into a USB 3 port.

I am not impressed by these hard drives. Following my one (and only) Toshiba laptop where the keyboard keys started to fall out, these hard drive only confirm my opinion that Toshiba manufactures shoddy products that aren't worth buying.

The next time I purchase an external hard drive, it will be a Samsung.

I purchased this USB drive with the hope of using it in conjunction with a smart TV to store HD programmes. The instruction leaflet was very brief but referred the user to a user guide contained as a PDF file on the drive. Knowing that smart TVs insist on reformatting new USB drives, I connected it to my PC to retrieve the user manual and any other important files. I found that all the files on the drive (excepting Autorun.inf) were corrupted and could not be read. In fact viewing the files in a Hex Editor showed they all contained unreadable characters throughout (0xFF hexadecimal). I ran Windows Chkdsk on the drive and it came up with many errors in sectors and indexes. It may well have worked with the TV after re-formatting, but with no user guide readable and such uncertainty over the drive's reliability at the start of its life I returned it to Amazon and they are currently processing my refund.

First I'd like to say how impressed i am with the delivery, ordered it Tuesday late morning, received an email Wednesday saying i would be delivered on Thursday and their it was, i missed the delivery though but they've emailed me back within two hours, saying where they had left it, with one of the neighbors. Great customers service. Then on the item itself, it can t be easier to use, it took 30 minutes to copy 80GB of pictures and videos, don t have to worry about back up anymore, or pay any annual fees to get them i cloud or dropbox thing, can't really go wrong with toshiba either, it is small, does not make a sound. could not be happier

Voilà très exactement ce que l'on appelle "en avoir pour son argent".

Pour un prix bien plus abordable que la concurrence, on a un disque qui marche très bien, assez rapide en USB2 par rapport à d'autres que j'ai pu tester et encore plus en USB3, mais je n'ai pas de point ce comparaison.
La finition plastique noire a pu paraître un peu "cheap" à certains. Elle a deux avantages : le disque ne se raye pas, et il est protégé des chocs (c'est du plastique un peu souple).
J'ai le petit frère de 1To depuis pas mal de temps, et je n'ai eu aucun problème d'aucune sorte.

Après, ne vous attendez à rien d'autre : pas de logiciel de sauvegarde automatique, de récupération de données. Rien qu'un disque qui marche très bien. Mais n'est-ce pas ce que l'on demande ?

Es un producto al que no se le puede pedir nada mas que para lo que está diseñado, todos los discos duros externos hacen lo mismo: guardar datos. Este lo hace a la perfección y además es pequeño, ligero y fácil de manejar y usar. Una marca reconocida y a buen precio, no se puede pedir mas.

EDITO para decir que después de usarlos (compré 2 discos) durante mas de 5 años para guardar copias de seguridad de los datos de mi PC, el disco sigue funcionando sin problemas.

Disque dur externe portable de marque Toshiba.
Ce disque dur a une capacité de 1To. Il existe également en 500Go ou en 2To. Il est de couleur noir et pas trop lourd.
De forme rectangle, il a la technologie USB 3.0 et 2.0. Il est vendu avec son câble qui est un peu court à mon goût.
La fonction USB 3.0 est impressionnante pour le transfert de donnée. La connectique est bonne et les transferts se font à une vitesse vraiment très rapide. Pour se faire l'appareil sur lequel le disque dur va se connecter doit disposer également de la fonction USB 3.0. En général tout les PC récents ont cette fonction.
La reconnaissance via le PC se fait instantanément.

Le seul point à améliorer est au niveau du prix. Effectivement la grande quantité de stockage et la rapidité sont des atouts, mais sur ce produit la livraison est incroyablement cher pour un si petit format.

L'articolo funziona perfettamente, ma per chi conosce il modello da 1 TB, la dimensione ed il consumo di corrente di questo modello sono superiori, come se ci fossero più piatti rotanti sovrapposti. Nessun problema di funzionamento, ma sullo Smart TV che prima riusciva ad alimentare contemporaneamente 2 HD da 2,5 '' ora non riesce ad alimentarne un'altro oltre a questo da 2 tera.
A parte questo, il funzionamento è impeccabile, riconosce automaticamente il tipo di porta alla quale è collegato cambiando il colore del led, blu per usb 3.0, bianco per 2.0.

Ottimo hardDisk arrivato nei tempi stabiliti perfettamente integro senza segni di maltrattamenti evidenti e confezionato molto bene addirittura con plastica di protezione a camera d'aria per evitare urti che sono la prima causa di rottura di questi oggetti. E’ esattamente conforme alla descrizione riportata sul sito; è utilissimo ed ha veramente un sacco di memoria (500gb), ottima qualità e produttore affidabile. Il prezzo non è molto basso però posso assicurare che il prodotto è davvero buono. È leggero, veloce ed esteticamente apprezzabile, nonchè abbastanza piccolo quindi comodo da portarselo dietro. Lo utilizzo principalmente come archivio essenzialmente per conservare foto, filmati, musica e film e devo dire che soddisfa pienamente le mie esigenze. Sono ormai un paio d'anni che lo utilizzo e non ne posso più fare a meno.
Viene riconosciuto senza problemi sia da Mac che da Windows.
Inoltre ha una piccola spia bianca che indica se e quando sta lavorando e 4 piccoli gommini sul fondo che lo saldano bene al piano di lavoro, evitando che colpi accidentali lo facciano inavvertitamente volare per terra.
E’ davvero ottimo questo hard disk tanto che l’ho comprato uno identico anche per mia madre per andare sul sicuro rispetto al rapporto qualità prezzo.
2 contro:
1 è che se si preme delicatamente su di esso tende subito a inarcarsi verso l’interno dove si trova il disco, non è proprio il massimo, bisogna fare attenzione a questo particolare, ma un case di plastica o quelli a zip risolvono bene questo problema;
2 il cavetto per collegarlo al pc è molto fragile infatti occorre fare molta attenzione altrimenti si rischia che non aderisca più all’uscita.
Lo consiglio vivamente a chiunque abbia necessità di conservare i propri dati in maniera sicura e senza appesantire la memoria del pc.

Ich habe diese Festplatte zum archivieren von Daten gekauft. Benutzt habe ich sie ca. 5-10 mal für reine backups.
Sie wurde nur in der Luftpolsterfolie und OVP transportiert. Den Rest der Zeit lag sie gut verpackt in der Schublade.
Nach 4 Jahren wird sie nicht mehr gelesen und gibt nur noch Klickgeräusche von sich. Der Grund ist mir nicht ersichtlich.
Da drängt sich mir schon die Frage auf ob der Lebenszyklus verkürzt wird.

Für dauerhafte Archivierung MmN. nicht geeignet.
Wenn Amazon oder Toshiba mir entgegenkommen wollen wäre ich froh.

Ho comprato questo hard disk quasi 2 anni fa, mi ha dato problemi neanche due mesi dopo. Ora sto provando a far valere la garanzia dei due anni e questi di Digitem mi danno un sacco di problemi, partendo dal fatto che non ci sono altri modi di contattare il fornitore se non per e-mail, le indicazioni che danno non sono specifiche (alcune info sostanziali come la richiesta della scatola originale me l'hanno data solo dopo il pagamento per la restituzione del prodotto difettoso) e nemmeno facendoli contattare direttamente da quelli di Amazon riescono a darmi risposte precise in modo da soddisfare le mie richieste.
Assolutamente lo sconsiglio a tutti. Ci sono altri hard disk che costano poco di più ma sono perfettamente funzionanti e hanno un validissimo servizio clienti (provato per esperienza). Pessimi

J'ai acheté ce DDE il y a 3 ans. L'année dernière, après deux ans d'utilisation, il n'était plus reconnu par aucun PC. Ce produit bénéficiant d'une bonne réputation, tout comme la marque, j'y ai stocké toutes mes photos, de tous mes voyages.
J'ai cherché à le faire réparer par un professionnel. Non seulement rien n'était récupérable mais le diagnostic était que cet appareil a été construit spécifiquement pour lâcher au bout de quelques années. Voici les motifs :
-Tête de lecture très fragile, à la limite de la destruction programmée.
-Un plateau rayé à cause de la tête de lecture tordue.
-2 vis causant du magnétisme placées à proximité de la tête de lecture afin qu'elle soit tordue petit à petit.
Je trouve ça scandaleux qu'un constructeur programme la destruction d'un produit qui est justement conçu pour éviter, limiter la perte de fichiers qui sont vulnérables lorsqu'ils sont sauvegardés seulement sur ordinateur. On fait confiance (à tord) à un produit et on s'en trouve lésé. Les photos, les souvenirs que j'avais, des fichiers de mon parcours universitaires sont perdus pour toujours. Ça n'a aucun prix.
Je compte également entrer en contact avec 60 millions de consommateurs car j'estime qu'il y a fraude.

Ich habe die Toshiba HDTB120EK3CA, externe Festplatte mit 2TB, bereits im August 2014 gekauft. Die gab es bei Amazon damals für gut 96 EUR. Erstaunlich, dass sie heute so viel teurer ist. Zumindest hier gibt es die von Herrn Draghi ersehnte Inflation ja schon :-)
Wie in anderen Rezensionen beschrieben gibt es bei den Übertragungsraten nichts zu meckern. Stabil über 100 MByte/s bei USB3 und großen Dateien und auch bei USB2 sehr ordentliche Werte waren bei mir immer drin. Ich benutze die Toshiba an mehreren PCs, Notebooks und Fernsehern, Probleme gab es nie.
Ein Nachteil war für mich das relativ hohe Gewicht im Vergleich zur Vorgängerin. Diese hatte aber halt nur 360GB und ist insofern nicht vergleichbar. Richtig schwer ist die Toshiba ja auch nicht, aber wenn man sie - wie ich - immer dabei hat schaut man halt auch auf 100g. Andererseits muss ich zugeben, dass sie mir in eineinhalb Jahren auch nie spürbar "zur Last gefallen" ist. Also eigentlich auch alles im grünen Bereich.
Das einige was mich wirklich nachdenklich stimmt und was der Platte zwei meiner Sterne kostet ist die Qualiät der Anschlussbuchse im Zusammenspiel mit dem mitgelieferten Kabel. Da muss immer wieder mal ein bisschen nachjustiert oder "gerüttelt" werden bis die Festplatte richtig startet und einsatzbereit ist. Wenn sie denn mal loslegt ist die Verbindung (bisher) auch absolut stabil. Aber bei einer Platte dieser Preis- und Qualitätsklasse würde ich voraussetzen, dass eine topsolide Anschlussbuchse und ein ordentliches Kabel eine bombenfeste und zuverlässige Daten- und Stromverbindung garantieren. Das Gewackel bei der Toshiba ist unwürdig und lästig. So etwas gibt es bei der Seagate, die ich von meinem Arbeitgeber habe, überhaupt nicht.
Fazit: Das Ding ist ok aber ich würde mich heute nach etwas Kleinerem, Leichterem mit soliderer Kabelverbindung umschauen.

Scrivo questa recensione a più di QUATTRO ANNI dall'acquisto (Marzo 2013), perché ritengo che prima di valutare prodotti come questi si debbano eseguire più e più prove "sul campo".

Che dire.. l'affidabilità che ho riscontrato in questo Hard Disk esterno è semplicemente straordinaria. Non solo non ha mai creato il minimo problema dopo tantissimi utilizzi, ma ha resistito anche a qualche piccola botta in modo notevole. C'è da dire che è stato utilizzato adottando alcuni accorgimenti tecnici come la rimozione guidata, che ne hanno preservato l'integrità. Tuttavia, è incredibile come, dopo tutto questo tempo (ben oltre la garanzia), questo dispositivo sia ancora così efficiente, soprattutto viste le diffuse pratiche di obsolescenza programmata.

Davvero soddisfatto dell'acquisto. Complimenti Toshiba!

Le dimensioni sono ridotte e il design è molto accurato. Il Canvio Basic della Toshiba è il successore dello Stor.E e presenta più o meno le sue stesse caratteristiche. Da notare che anche se anche nel titolo dell’annuncio viene specificato il modello Stor.E, quasi tutti i venditori spediscono la nuova versione Canvio, quindi a quest’ultimo farà riferimento la recensione.
L’hard Disk esterno è un 2,5 pollici autoalimentato, è molto silenzioso, sia in scrittura che in lettura. Beneficia di un’interfaccia USB 3.0 superspeed, viaggiando ad una velocità circa 10 volte quella relativa allo standard USB 2.0 (max velocità: 400MB/sec). Pesa più o meno 250 gr con dimensioni: 11,8x7,8x1 cm. Possiede quattro piccoli gommini sugli spigoli per ammorbidire il contatto con il piano di appoggio. Il cavo è abbastanza corto e misura poco più di 40 cm.
Di fabbrica viene formattato in NTFS e di conseguenza supporta i sistemi operativi Windows, ma può essere utilizzato anche con i prodotti MAC, formattando il disco su file system HFS+.
Appena ricevuto, l’hard disk è stato verificato con il programma HD Tune e, in particolare, sono stati eseguiti: il test relativo allo stato di funzionamento e quello dell’analisi settore per settore. Entrambi i test hanno riportato un esito positivo (vengono riportate alcune foto).
Vale ampiamente il suo prezzo.

Ho comprato questo articolo quattro anni fa, e ne ho fatto un uso basilare e sporadico fino ad oggi. Fin dall'inizio ha sempre fatto dei rumori strani durante la copia di file, di conseguenza l'ho mandato indietro (essendo in garanzia) perché ero preoccupata che il prodotto fosse difettoso. Me lo hanno rimandato indietro dicendo che il rumore era normale. Oggi, dopo una copia ingente di file, ha smesso di funzionare dopo aver prodotto in gran numero i soliti rumori e, in aggiunta, altri rumori di raschiamento preoccupanti.
Sicuramente non comprerò più hard disk della Toshiba, né prodotti da questo rivenditore, poiché inaffidabili
