But this was my beginning and Torn has stayed with me ever since.
Yes its a fine line. Tor is there from Kenzis birth. He looks after her and raises her as much as her father. So it should be wrong. But it just isn't!
Carian writes their story in such a way that you completely believe the innocence of their relationship until it suddenly isn't any more. I felt it just as much as they did when it changed. It's just right. I absolutely believed in their story and my heart broke for them when they realised the repercussions. I cheered for them to be together because they belonged together. I wanted to be kenzi. That's not weird right??
Totally sucked into the story and didn't want to leave. I've since read all the books in the Ashes and Embers series just to stay in their world. I'm an avid reader (1082 books on my kindle currently) and this is one of the handful that I still return to and love.
Just read it!!
It was heartbreaking at times and I completely understand each characters perspective and feeling's.
Tor was brilliantly written and such a layered character, his difficulty in accepting his feelings and his disgust at himself was just so tragic and painful.
At no time due to the way the subject was handled did I feel disgust, they were both adults and their relationship did evolve only when she became an adult never fitting in with adults of her own age. They tried not to feel romantic love because of their history.
It was a very moving story and delicately told.
Superb, highly recommend.
Having read the blurb for this story, I was intrigued. It captured my imagination and did not disappoint. The story takes time to develop. The characters build and unfold as their story develops. It is not sleazy and you end up falling in love with the characters, as they fight their growing attraction for each other, willing them on!
If you are looking for a story - with great characters and a wonderful back story (I had never read anything by this author before, which I can truthfully say, is no-longer the case!) this is a story for you.
You want them always to be together.... You think your mind is wrong but then you just know its right! They belong together and what a ride you take with them ❤
