This well written story has such well developed main characters that the reader cannot help but be concerned about what will happen to them. The plot is simple in itself, but with twists that make for a very exciting read and the tension builds rapidly as the book proceeds towards the unexpected conclusion. It is detailed, too giving , for example, the effects of wind speed on a bullet and how to calculate it, as well as the action in the fights that occur. Nice touches, also, of a very human nature such as the reaction of a man unexpectedly finding a gun pointed at him "trying to verify the make of the pistol.", as well as some inherent humour in the text.
An exciting, well written and unusual thriller which does not play down to it's audience but allows for a certain amount of reader imagination whilst providing all salient facts. My thanks to the author for gifting me with a complimentary prepublication copy of Torn Apart and this unsolicited review is a true representation of my opinion.
This book was edited, which is always a wonderful thing. This is my favorite genre and I couldn't put this book down any more than I could the first book of the series, Immortality Plot. I contacted the author to review his books.
Immortality Plot #1 - A well written, interesting thriller that is difficult to put down once started. In need of minor editing, the errors interrupt the flow of the story. The violence to the victims isn't graphic. The murder weapon is rare; I've only seen a natural variation used in two stories. The twisting plot is well thought out and the developed characters are interesting and their dialog is realistic.
I got this book from the author as an ARC. Will be reading his other work, since he wrote a good story and this is my favorite genre. I contacted the author to review his books.
I wish I had found this author before now - they are one of the best I have read in recent years and up there with my favourites.
The book deals with twin sisters torn apart just after they were born. One has been raised in a convent orphanage in Ireland and the other was adopted and taken to America by a well off couple. The story also introduces us to Mike Delaney, ex forces (of the type that can’t be revealed), ex monk, who is asked to help one sister find the other.
Throw in a massive conspiracy with snipers, assassins, blackmail and some very nasty, bad people and you have the recipe for an excellent thriller. I could say more but wouldn’t want to pass on any spoilers to anyone.
I received a free copy of this book from the author and can highly recommend it to all. I have freely given my own opinion of this book above and I loved it ! I can’t wait for more and will now go back and try to read the first one I. The series and any others by this author.
Superb writing !
This book is set in a variety of locations, all very well described, so that you feel that you are travelling with him. But the main things which stand out in this book are the plot and the characters. I don't do spoilers so won't describe the plot, but what I will say is that it is never predictable, it drew me in to the story to such a degree that I found it very difficult to put down when I needed to stop reading, and there are some fantastic action passages, some of which literally had me holding my breath.
The other characters in this book are also very believable and sometimes very surprising. A great thriller indeed!
I did receive a complimentary copy of the book from the author, but voluntarily wrote this review based entirely on my own opinions.
