It is always difficult when you see an author and new series but I must admit to being very surprised. The writing is clear and easy. I have just downloaded book two. T h e characters are really likeable and will grow on you and what a twist at the end. Enjoy

A good thing to consider if you are going to have your characters using guns is maybe doing a little research on them. You do not load bullets into the barrel and spin it... That would be the cylinder. A 2 minute search on Google would have supplied that information. Names of gun parts aside this is a predictable, slow paced book with dialogue that grated on me from the get go... People don't talk like this, and to be honest The gang depicted in this story are way too over powered. The whole thing just felt unrealistic. If this was a movie it would be a straight to DVD job or a made for TV, 2am sky movies slumberfest. Having said all that I did read the whole thing and at certain times those sky movies 2am jobs have entertained me. Besides it was free

I was asked to read this by TBC, a book club I'm a member of on Facebook, I have to say from the first page I was hooked, the story was believable as were all of the people in it, there were some bits that were quite gruesome but that made it all the more authentic. I kept hearing about the 'twist' in the story from various people that had already read it so was very keen to get to the end and boy, I wasn't disappointed, I certainly never expected it to be that!!!! This is the first Mel Comley book that I have read but it certainly won't be the last. A very worthy 5 Stars for this one!!

Torn apart by mel Comley.
Everyone understands about the no-go districts--areas of the city so overrun with gang violence even the police stay away. In this book, the first in a new series, DI Hero Nelson sets out to combat the issue. When Saskia Hartley and her nine-year-old son are run down outside a restaurant, DI Nelson knows it is no ordinary hit-and-run incident. He's looking at a homicide case... and the evidence points to the brutal Krull Gang. When two prostitutes are murdered, but little interest is given to the women on the Krull's payroll, Nelson connects the dots. DI Nelson has to decide whether he's dealing with a turf war or something far more sinister.
Absolutely fantastic read. Although I didn’t like the gang. I wanted them to suffer. I didn’t expect that. Wow. Can't wait for next part. Highly recommended. 5*. Thanks mel.

Wasn't sure what i was going to think, always the same when you start a new series. After reading the Justice series, i did't think Mel's books could get any better.. how wrong was I..
A gripping story line right from the start, with twists and turns along the way, and as for the ending.. welll....I WASNT EXPECTING THAT....
fantastic, all i can say is bring on the next one... cant wait...

Well done for writing another great book..

I was lucky to receive this free for a honest review from The Book Club on Facebook.
Saskia picks up her son from boarding school at the start of half term and, as a treat, they call into McDonalds for tea before the drive home. This is the start of the book and what happens next was explosive.
Gang warfare is rife in Manchester, and Hero Nelson of the Manchester Murder Investigation Team have a tough job trying to catch, and successfully prosecute, the gang members for crimes. ASBOs seem to be the hardest punishment they receive.
The Krull Gang are the worst gang with the leader, Crabbie, determined that they will be the ruling gang of Manchester.
There are more crimes daily, and more victims. It's hard to know which, if any, of the gangs are responsible.
This book kept me gripped all the way through, and the twist will surprise you. I recommend this, and I will be reading more from this author.

I've just finished Torn Apart & I'm totally stunned. I don't think that in my entire reading lifetime I've ever come to the last sentence and still didn't know who the killer was!! This book absolutely floored me from beginning to end & I just love the interaction between Hero Nelson & his team. This author has certainly weaved her magic in keeping secrets to the absolute end. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who wants a great read.
