At last, the greatest band in the world releases its' greatest hits album (and what an absolute corker!).The quality & pace never relents from the opening salvo of "Firecracker" until the album finale "Matchbook"--probably one of the greatest tracks ever laid down). There are simply not enough superlatives to adequately sum up this album , as all aspects of this band are so damned good (the crisp / precise vocals of Jason Cruz--the dualing guitars that never fail to hit the spot --the absolutely phenomenal drumming talent of Jordan , who is without peer in the cosmos of rock drumming (i mean, i love Travis Barker , but he is a mere novice compared with this man).Opinions might differ on some tracks included/missed out(i would have included "Rotting Apple"& "Jackie O" for instance, but cannot really knock the consistent quality on offer here). Just buy this record please----and listen to a band that is the best on offer (and maybe someday they might get the recognition they truly deserve at last).

HASH(0x92f98b10) out of 5 stars A different take on some old Strung Out underground hits. 20 July 2011

So you already own all the songs and your wondering if it's worth it or not? Yes, absolutely! The remixes are awesome as well as the three new songs. Some of the remixes will leave you saying "now that's how the song should have been originally mixed" and a few sound like they have barely been changed at all but overall it is enough to justify spending the money. I left off one star because the greatest hits collection does not exactly correspond with my idea of Strung Out's greatest hits but I'm sure we all have a different idea of what should be on here right?

HASH(0x93162f00) out of 5 stars Top Contenders!! - Very Nice Song Collection!! 7 Dec. 2011
By ***Doum666*** - Published on Amazon.com

Strung Out is probably one of the most solid band on FAT WRECK CHORDS! (along with NOFX of course...) They've been together for over 20 years now and that shows when you listen to their music!! I would describe it as melodic punk /metal rock. "Top Contenders" is like a greatest hit of their most popular songs in career.

It was very well done as it covers pretty much all the era's of their musical career. For someone that doesn't own any STRUNG OUT album, i would say that this is a perfect place to start!!! ( that's if you like punk rock and metal of course!). The album gives a really good idea of their musical style and every direction they took musically in their career.

I was a bit surprise to see the amount of votes and reviews for that item as i thought there would have been a lot more but its ok. Has i mentioned in the past, i will mostly review unknown and underrated movies and albums that i like and that not a lot of people know.

If you liked the compilation, you're ready to attack the albums!!!!! My 2 favourites are SURBUBAN TEENAGE WATELAND BLUES in 1996 and TWISTED BY DESIGNED in 1998, those 2 albums contains my favourite songs from them. Check also for PROTOTYPES AND PAINKILLERS 2009 which is another compilation they made for mostly b-sides, rarities ,outtakes and unreleased songs that never made it to CD (or almost...)!!

ENJOY!!!!

HASH(0x92f986f0) out of 5 stars Totally worth buying even if you own every Strung Out record... 7 Jan. 2012

I have been following Strung Out for the past 10 years and this CD is a great compilation of some of their best work. Does this cd have everything? Not quite...but this cd would be over 50 tracks if they included everyones personal favorites (Although Vampires and No Voice of Mine would sound amazing remastered). So is this collection worth getting even if you already own the records? Totally! These remastered tracks sound amazing and you can hear whole new layers of sound that are not as crisp on the originals. I felt like I was hearing some of my favorite Strung Out songs for the first time all over again. They also recorded 3 brand new songs, which are excellent. Lagwagon just remastered all of their albums and I hope Strung Out eventually does the same. I would not hesitate to buy every album all over again with this type of amazing production.

Great compilation! The re-mastering of the oldies really gives some of them a whole new feel, and it's pretty much all for the better. I'd highly highly recommend this one to anyone who is even remotely a Strung Out fan. The new songs are good too. Of the three, my favorite is City Lights, which I actually heard the other day on the radio. Weird. Anyways, stop reading this review and just buy it already.

HASH(0x92913ac8) out of 5 stars Excellent lineup of Strung Out both new and old, along with new material! 30 Aug. 2011
By VitaminJB - Published on Amazon.com

This is a must have for any Strung Out fan. Many of the great older tracks such as "Firecracker", and "Mind of my Own", and "Ashes" have been updated in terms of production and sound great. This is just a great playlist if you have been a fan of this band since the late 80's. This band simply cannot produce a bad song, and no one in the indy-punk genre sounds like them either. Strung Out is extremely talented, and extremely dedicated to thier fans. I am thankfull that there are still bands around like Strung Out that stay true and continue pumping out music that is both unique and raw. These guys are one of the few shining stars still left that have resisted "selling out" and changing thier style.

Whether you are a die hard fan like me with every CD, signed setlists, a dozen of Jordan's Drumsticks, and astrolux tattoo's or someone just looking for some new material and new tunes to jam out to, you should pick up this album, you will not be dissapointed.
