I am giving it 5 stars as it convinced me to actually purchase all the books in the series after I read the one enclosed in this (Year of the Wolves Vol 2) box set!
I enjoyed all the different characters and their storylines. The writing varied from being written 1st person from the character’s viewpoint to the more generic 3rd person.
There is underlying story of conflict between werewolves who want to live as humans live within a human environment/town, whilst maintaining their ‘wolfiness’ as a hidden but group life; and those – the Canidae – who want to be more wolf and less human. Going back to their Nordic roots in behaviour. – See Fenrir and Norse mythology.
Too Far Gone by KC Stewart explains the Sadie and Tyson romance story and how she brings him back to humanity from his feral edge. 4
Enter Tyson; now the quintessential lone wolf following the death of his sister at his own hand. He’s trying to outrun the weight of decisions made by turning to the other half of his soul; his wolf.
So what’s a gal to do when she finds herself in a life or death situation?! Well, you’ll have to read it to find out as I don’t want to ruin the journey for you!!
I thoroughly enjoyed this shifter book; especially the way it was told in dual POVs even when Tyson was in wolf form. I loved hearing his thoughts and experienced a few LOL moments with his dry wit and observations.
It also really touched at my emotions as Sadie doesn’t realise the impact she is having on Tyson or the ‘healing’ her presence is having on his psyche:
“His world ended and began anew with that simple gesture.”
Yet, the same can be said for the effect of Tyson on Sadie:
“He came for her. He saved her.”
What really summed up the feeling of this book for me was at the end when Tyson simply states:
“I love you because I am the best version of myself when you are near me.”
All in all, I couldn’t recommend this book enough and look forward to reading more by this author. I can’t wait to find out more about the pack in the upcoming stories to see what they have to say!
The only reason I couldn’t give it the full 5 stars was due to some typos which detracted from the moment when I was reading but don’t let that put you off!

Good story, strong characters. I like that this is a companion series where each book has an ending. I'm not a fan of cliffhangers but love book series where each book is a stand alone story, where it involves a couple and has the rest of the supporting characters that in turn get their own book.
This is a good paranormal series for those that want an adult theme but not full on sex scenes.
The main character is Sadie, who after a traumatic event in her home town has moved to the sleepy town in the Adirondacks. After having enough of unpacking she takes a walk in the woodland surrounding her house, she mistakenly walks into the path of a Wolf...
When she thinks her time is up and she is going to be 'Wolf tucker' she looks death (or Wolf) straight in the eye, when another wolf suddenly appears and fur flies, when its all over the new wolf isn't interested in eating her, more like seeing her home!
Sadie ends up adopting the 'Protective Wolf' she calls "Fred" she feels a connection to him, and feels safe in his company.
What makes this story different is it focuses on the relationships, I felt drawn to Sadie, although she is beaten by her past she refuses to lay down and die, she is a fighter and has taken the brave step of leaving her family and the reminders of her attack to start again - where she can walk down the street without everyone knowing what happened. She knows it is going to be a long road but she is ready to walk it.
There is more than meets the eye when it comes to "Fred" he's an Enforcer from the local shifter pack of wolves who has been stuck in wolf form since he had to kill his sister for betraying the pack. Tyson AKA Fred was ready to give into the blackness and go 'Feral' until he ran across Sadie in the woods, now he feels a connection, the need to protect her and sees that they are two broken souls trying to get by day by day.
When Ranger 'Jack' appears and is interested in Sadie, she reluctantly agrees to meet him 'as friends' at the local bar... she should have listened to her gut feeling, and 'Fred's' instant hatred for him as he is not to be trusted.
To find out more about what happens next, buy the book and read on, I read this book in one sitting as I just didnt want to put it down, and I look forward to reading more of the series.
There are not that many PNR books out there that are 'Sex Free' so if you love Shifter stories but prefer the romance of a relationship then this book is for you.
