Tonya Plank was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona. She holds a BA from the University of Arizona, an MA from Brown University, and a JD from Rutgers Law School at Newark. During college, she was an exchange student at the University of London.
She practiced law in New York City as a criminal appeals attorney for many years. A ballroom dancer and a longtime balletomane, she writes the dance blog, Swan Lake Samba Girl, which has been lauded by Vanity Fair.com and cited there, as well as in the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times blog, and on CNN.com.
Her debut novel, Swallow, is a best-seller in the Amazon.com Kindle store and received the gold medal for women's fiction in the 2010 Living Now Book Awards, a gold medal for best regional fiction in the 2010 Independent Publisher Book Awards, and was a finalist in the ForeWord Magazine Book of the Year Awards and the National Indie Excellence Awards.
She currently resides in New York and is working on her second novel.
