Tommee Tippee Closer to Nature Perfect Prep Machine
The Tommee Tippee Closer to Nature Perfect Prep machine makes a fresh bottle at just the right serving temperature in less than two minutes. When baby arrives there's so much to do and to think about, so many things to juggle, so much that's challenging. That’s why Tommee Tippee has created the Perfect Prep machine. Designed to make preparing formula bottles quicker and more accurate, Perfect Prep gives parents the extra peace of mind that comes from knowing Baby's bottle will be ideal every time.
The in-built filter system removes impurities from water and dispenses the correct amount of water, in ounces, for an accurate formula consistency.
For an added safety measure, the Closer to Nature Perfect Prep machine dispenses an initial hot shot of water that kills any bacteria that may be present in the formula. The initial burst of hot water also helps to dissolve the formula quickly and easily.
After the hot shot, cooler water is dispensed to ensure every bottle is delivered at body temperature - just like breast milk.
Perfect Prep works with any brand of powdered formula milk, and has an adjustable base for different bottle shapes and sizes – simply measure out the formula and the Perfect Prep does everything else.
How to Use Perfect Prep
Step 1 - Fill hopper with tap water.

The box contains the machine itself together with a removable filter unit and one feeding bottle. The filter filters the tap or other water you put in the tank to take out impurities before it is used to make up the milk formula. I found the machine easy to unpack and set up. Full instructions are provided but the design is so simple you can more or less see where the parts go just by looking at it.
To use it your first fill the tank with ordinary tap water. You then use the dial on the side of the machine to select how much milk you want to make. You then put a sterilised bottle under the nozzle and press the start button. The machine than fires in a small ‘hot shot’ of very hot water which is designed to kill off any germs that might be in the bottle. You then add the required amount of milk formula, put the lid on the bottle and shake well. You then remove the bottle lid again, put the bottle back under the nozzle and press the start button. The machine then dispenses a steady stream of filtered cooler water. This cools down the ‘hot shot’ water and the end result is a bottle full of milk at or around human body temperature. Finally you put the teat on the bottle and secure it with the screw ring and you are ready to go.
Remember you need to sterilise the bottle separately before you use them with this machine.Read more ›
When you first unpack the machine you need to complete a cleaning cycle to ensure that the machine itself is clean and ready for filtering your tap water. This process took about 20 minutes rather than the advertised 10 minutes in the instruction booklet as the water tank seems to take a bit of time for the water to fill all of the way through the water filter into the bottom section of the water tank. However this in my opinion was not a negative to the product but I just thought I would mention it in case another person thinks like I did that I was doing something wrong. The instruction booklet is very clear with a step by step process (and pictures too) and describes how to set up the machine and do the cleaning cycle along with how to actually use the machine, how to stop it if needed, maintenance and descaling so I was quite impressed with the clear and easy to follow instruction leaflet.
The machine has a cleaning mode and de-calc/de-scale mode which I thought is a brilliant idea and saves you having to faff around with de-scaling products. The machine is also very clever in that it detects when these things needs to be done and alerts you to the fact by lighting up one of the corresponding warning lights. The machine also indicates when the water level is low in the water tank to enable you to fill it, when the water tank is hot and when the filer needs changing.Read more ›
In your nightly sleepy stupor, you only have to press one button, TWICE. That's all! And its a big button so you cant miss it.
Cleaning out the machine and changing the filter is a relatively easy process. It takes about 10 minutes, and our first filter lasted 2 months. We're on our second filter and have found them to be a little expensive at full price, but the amazon subscription to them brings this cost down (subscribe to 1 every 8 weeks).
The only niggle I have is that the minimum amount this machine can prepare is 4 ounces. When our baby first came along, 4 ounces was way too much for her, so we would let the machine fill the bottle to 4 ounces, pour out 2 and THEN add the powdered formula. Wasnt ideal but it was the only workaround available.
Now that she has 4 ounces and above, we don't have this issue.
I maintain, that this is an absolutely life changing device. You'll wonder what you ever did without it.

This machine is great when it works.
Unfortunately, it developed a fault after around 5 months of infrequent use (bottle feeding was supplement milk). Read more
