From the Manufacturer

Movement Sensor Pad

A key feature of the monitor is its sensor pad, designed to sit under the baby’s cot mattress, it monitors and sounds an alarm if no movement has been detected after 20 seconds. Most parents benefit from the sensor pad when their baby is a newborn. Once the child can move freely around the cot, parents can choose to remove the sensor pad and use the monitor as a stand-alone model.

I was initially put off by the number of reviews which said that the sensor alarm gave numerous false alarms, but having contacted TT beforehand, who told me as long as it is positioned correctly this should never happen, I went ahead and bought one.

What everyone doesn't mention, is that if you do get false alarms, you can switch the sensor mat off, using the monitor as a standard baby monitor.

I have a wooden slatted cotbed with a sprung mattress, the monitor was placed completely flat (No wobbles) roughly chest height where my baby normally sleeps.

I must say that I have been really impressed by this monitor. It is reassuring listening to the blips of your baby's movements rather than straining your ears trying to listen to your baby's tiny breaths. (I must add that this sensor seems sensitive enough to detect your baby's breathing!)

The clarity is very good, but it doesn't seem to be as sensitive as my old BT monitor (used for my first child).

The battery life seems to be much better though.

In the 6 months I have had this, there have been 2 possible false alarms (Waking to find a flashing red light which means that the alarm had been activated but movement is now being detected, throwing us into panic mode!)

This leads me onto the negatives for this monitor.

The alarm sound level cannot be adjusted, it just seems like it's not loud enough (Although if you pick your baby up, forgetting about the sensor mat, the alarm does get a bit piercing).

And the reassuring blips I mentioned earlier, they cannot be adjusted either, which means at noisier times it is difficult to hear and at bedtime when you are trying to sleep you have random blips constantly going off.

I bought this product for my 1st baby after been reccomended to get a sensor monitor ver normal baby moniters. At just under 8 weeks i had only had 2 false alarms where my son was perfectly fine just in a deep sleep. On the 3rd occasion at 7 1/2 weeks old my sensor mat sounded and in the second it took to get to check on my son the circumstances were very different, he was very floppy, deflated and blue with no life or movement in him at all. If it was not down to the sensor mat i would have not woken for a futher 4 hours before a feed. this product really is amazing and although my son was in a bad state the alert meant i could start CPR on him. My son recovered well so i put him back to bed when he did the same less than 2 hours later and needed reviving again. I would reccomend this product to anyone as the sound quality is amazingly clear with adjustable levels of volume and the ticking of the parent monitor allows you to relax from another room. I have not used the talk back feature yet but know the motion sensor is beneficial for peace of mind. I love the fact that the baby's montior sounds when no motion is detected as well as the parent one as i have found the noise startles the baby and create movement again before you have got them. Even then i still check my son for own peace of mind. i also love how this is both mains and battery operated as in the event of a power cut you still have peace of mind even in your sleep. i would personally reccomend only using rechargable batteries as to ensure they are not dead should the power go off.

I have only had one issue with this product on having to tilt my cot to an angle and found that the pressure was not evenly spread and the alarm was sounding when my baby was fine.

I purchased this item, as i already had the previous tommee tippee model, but found there was a lot of interference on the monitor. This product is brilliant. The sound is so clear, yet doesnt disturb you at night when baby moves about like the previous monitor. Being able to speak through the monitor is so helpful, as i've been able to calm my son without having to leave my bed. I would rate this as 5 star, and would highly recommend it. So easy to use as well.

As stated above this product offers much more piece of mind than having baby in your own bedroom. The reassuring tap tap to let you know baby is breathing, is a better way of checking baby is ok, than waking every 2 minutes to check babys chest is moving any day. The system never fails, you will never get a positive false reading from this. When baby moves later on, you will get the occasional false alarm as baby gees out of range, but I'll take that no problems. The sound is perfect, with no interference and I have yet to experience a low battery from the rechargeable receiver. I have used this product overnight and during the daytime every day for around six months.

We purchased this product in preparation for the birth of our first child. My sister has the angelcare one and I liked the theory, but wanted something a little less baby looking.

It worked fantastically for the first 6 weeks whilst she was in her Moses basket and I was exceptionally pleased with it. The audio performance is great, adjustable levels of sound and really clear. The two way talk back facility is great too, although more for me to speak to my husband whilst feeding her!

However, the problems started when we put her into her big cot - her cot with an average, and standard mattress. Within an hour of her being in it, the alarm had gone off, scaring us to death and making us dash upstairs in a complete panic only to find her peacefully asleep. It continued to do so, up to 8+ times a night. I followed all the trouble shooting advice - correct positioning, placing the mat on a solid board over the slats, maximum sensitivity etc; unfortunately to no avail, and I still got the false alarms. I even prevailed for a few weeks, thinking that maybe she was still too small - she is above average size. I eventually had to switch the sensor mat off.

I started speaking to TT, and they said that it may be faulty, and agreed to replace it. The problem with that was that I had to send it off, before I got the replacement - understandable, howver it left me without a monitor for nearly a week which was hair raising!!

I recieved the replacement 5 days ago, and frustratingly, the same thing is happening. I have had to switch the sensor mat off again as it is now disturbing my baby's sleep, and so I am going to be sending it back for a refund as I am less than happy with the performance, which is so disappointing as all other aspects of it are great.
