I recently bought a TOM TOM RIDER PRO for a motor bike tour of Italy.
Several friends have the TOM TOM RIDER 2 which supplied the charging bike mount as standard.

The RIDER PRO is supplied with a non charging mount!!!!!!

Doing quite an extensive tour with no reliable access to mains power to charge the TOM TOM up it's essential to have a charging mount fitted to the bike.

TOM TOM obviously knows this, nice way of squeezing more money out of you.

The charging dock its self is a nice well built compact piece of kit which comes complete with the power lead to attach it to the bike's battery. Shame it didn't come in the RIDER PRO box as standard.

I had one before which broke a pin that hold the suction cup. TT don't supply spares so I glued it onto another cheap suction device. This worked fine until the power cable pin broke off inside the power cable. Looking to buy a whole new adaptor I spotted it here at only £20 so I got two (car and van). It seems they are seconds as the power cable will not click into position, it's quite loose, although it does charge. Without the power cable it won't charge and there are no voice directions. There were neither TT literature or guarantee in the box. I figured for £20 instread of £50+ I can hold the power cable in place with a rubber band and look to update a 10 year old satnav anyway.

I bought this to replace my original which unfortunately I managed to break. It has always worked well and had no hesitation in getting the new one. It is easy to attach and remove when in use.

This is a great solution when you're using 4 wheels instead of 2 :) the build quality is spot on and the suction mount has never failed yet (recommend a bit of spit)! although other people have said that the volume is quiet, i have found it to be quite loud especially when you turn the volume up to 100%. you can even hear it over the top of the radio etc aslong as you aren't a boy racer blasting music out of the windows! overall it is highly recommended by me :D

Works perfectly well and does what it's supposed to, but I'm about to order my third one in 3 years. Both the previous two have broken, both rather annoyingly, just outside the 1 year warranty period.

The plastic post that attaches the suction cup to the other bit of the bracket snaps in two, it's not ham-fistedness as on both occasions it just broke when in use rather than when being adjusted and I always slacken the grip mechamism before adjusting, so I'm not forcing it.

I suspect the plastic stick is just not strong enough to handle regular use.

I hate having to buy a third one of these things, but TomTom flatly refused to replace it despite the fact that it was the second one that had broken, so what else am I to do.

When the Rider eventually packs up, I won't buy another TomTom device, simply because of this issue.

For anyone with the TomTom Rider V2, this is an excellent accessory to have. Given the higher cost of the TomTom Rider compared to a dedicated car unit, rather than buy a second satnag for the car, use your bike satnag.

The Rider unit on it's own is a substantial piece of equipment and with it fitted to the in-car adaptor it's a bulky piece of kit - no way could it be as slimline as a dedicated car unit. In spite of it's bulk and weight with the Rider attached, the attachment has no problem holding the whole assembly to a car windscreen. Viewed from the driver's seat, the Rider in it's in-car mount is no more intrusive to vision than a normal car unit.

I've seen comment that it's too quiet, but with the Rider volume up at 100% it's certainly more than loud enough.

Thumbs up for it from me.

There's no need to buy this item - overpriced and with 6-7 hours battery life, most journeys won't need the charge. Get a £5 cigarette lighter lead and plug that it while you have a coffee if you're stuck.
This is just an over-priced profit-maker for TT.
TomTOm Urban Rider GPS is superb.
