Tom Pow (b. 1950, Edinburgh) has won four Scottish Arts Council Book Awards for his poetry and one for his children's writing. "Dear Alice - Narratives of Madness" won the Scottish Book of the Year Award for Poetry in 2009. "In The Becoming, New and Selected Poems" appeared in 2009. He has also written "In The Palace of Serpents", a travel book about Peru, several young adult novels and written radio dramas. From 2001 to 2003 he was the first writer in residence at the Edinburgh International Book Festival and in 2005 was Poet in Residence at StAnza, Scotland's Poetry Festival. He has taught in Edinburgh, London, Madrid and Dumfries. He is an Honorary Senior Research Fellow at the University of Glasgow in Dumfries, where he was a Senior Lecturer in creative writing and storytelling. In 2007, he received a Creative Scotland Award for a project on the dying villages of Europe. "In Another World, Among Europe's Dying Villages" was published in June 2012.
