Great game, when you get to play it... Gets a little bit repetitive but just take a short break from it and then get back to the action when you're ready. Graphics are awesome on my rig, New York looks fantastic and the physics and game-world interaction is amazing. There is a problem though - the Uplay online interface. Not like Steam at all - if the Ubisoft server is down or full you don't get to play your game - wasn't a problem for the first week but now i've been getting problems all weekend and again today and i'm only trying to play it as a single player in the "storyline" bit of the map. If I buy an expensive game I expect to be able to play it whenever I want (at least in storyline mode). Good job the game came free with my graphics card or i'd be REALLY upset ;)

A good concept let down completely by poor quality testing of both the game and the updates. It seems the development team are in complete denial about the games problems and ignore very obvious issues affecting solo and group gameplay. In a nutshell I bought the game with the updates and tonight after 10 days actual gameplay have uninstalled never to play again. Patches are fixes normally; to Ubisoft it seems that they are opportunities to add additional bugs and more loopholes to exploit.

If I could rate it zero stars I would

The hype train has failed once again. In the Division you play a sleeper agent sent in to New York to help protect citizens and recover the life of the city following a devastating artificial plague spread as a bio-weapon by a mad scientist. The game is mostly open-world, and you're free to roam around the central area of Manhattan more or less as you please. NPC commanders give you missions which, if successful, give rewards in the form of equipment drops, XP and some times crafting materials.

Hang on a minute, this is all sounding like an MMO isn't it? Yep, The Division is an RNG and loot-based MMO shooter. Do not expect realistic combat as you might find in the Rainbow Six or ARMA games. The game is balanced around the DPS of your weapons against the health bars of enemy combatants. Enemies are bullet sponges and the toughest of them can take hundreds of rounds to bring down. I'm not saying that this game format is necessarily a bad thing, especially if you can suspend disbelief it's actually quite an engaging and exciting single player experience.

I should also mention the Snowdrop game engine at this point. It's very impressive indeed. The level of detail and graphical effects all bring Manhattan to life in a very realistic manner. The engine offers loads of adjustment on the PC and is also surprisingly scaleable, running well on minimum-spec hardware, though you will need a monster gaming rig to get the best out of it. To give you an idea, I'm running an i7 960, 16GB of RAM with a GTX 760 graphics card. At 1920 x 1080 resolution I get between 35 & 50 fps in all areas. Not bad at all for 4 year old hardware.

Apart from the single player missions there's also the Dark Zone.

Although it's supposed to have a single player campaign. You have to be online and use other people in the campaign. Plus it has no pause facility. No good if you have a family.
