Zarek, a hot dragon shifter (and he knows it) alpha who knows it. But his new mission it find his mate before his 600th birthday or his virile get up and go will disappear and he'll no longer be able to have sex!!!!!!, Hi is arrogant and cocky but saves himself from being obnoxious with humour when dealing with his mate - who is not so susceptible to his secreted aphrodisiac - nauseating I believe she called it!!!

Keren is a demon slayer by night, office worker by day. She is very capable of taking care of herself. When they meet in a bar she plants a punch to Zarek, believing he had pinched her bum hard. Zarek later wonders who this human is because she is not falling to her knees like he expected!!!!

This book is short (only 6 chapters) but it is chock packed of funny scenes and hotness of the bedroom variety.
I've read a lot of Ms Roths books and the characters in each series are all quite fresh and none are the jaded, boring old shifter. They all have a killer sense of humour (intentionally or not) and I love it when her heroines don't instantly fall at the hero's feet and make him work hard!!!

Will leave you panting for more!!!!!

I've read this book several times now and I can honestly say that Dragon Shifters are definitely moving up my list of favourites.
Keren and Zarek are a very well suited pair - both seen as evil yet both having a real 2human" side.
Keren is a powerful slayer that is as happy dishing out punches as kisses.
A really good read.

Lovely, comical, sweet and oh so naughty! I thought that this was a great story. The characters were charming and funny. Zarek is in search of his one true mate before his very mature birthday. If this sexy dragon does not succeed, well let’s just say his new profession maybe a monk. While out at a club he spots an incredible woman that he must have. With the power or charm and his aphrodisiac saliva he moves in on Keren. Keren is a quiet stay at home kind of girl; at least that is what she wants you to think. At night her alter persona, Demon Hunter is alive and ready for action. Keren comes from a long generation of hunters, specifically Dragons. Although in the past hunters lost sight of what is right and wrong and killed for fun; Keren has not. Keren is doing her best to leave and Zarek swoops in for the Killer Kiss! Once he thinks he has her a surprise left hook finds a love connection with his jaw. The banter between these two is witty and very funny, a story of a love sick puppy, but with lots of sweet lovin. This was great as a standalone book. Will love find a way into the heart of a Dragon Hunter? Can the Dragon look beyond and see true love? Read and enjoy.

Title: Tipping the Scales
Series: Stop Dragon My Heart Around (#2)
Author: Mandy M Roth
From: Review Copy
Genre: Romance, Paranormal
Release Date: 8th December 2013
Challenges: 2015 Prequel & Sequel Challenge (1 point)
Links: Goodreads - Amazon

Zarek has very little time before his 600th birthday, the point at which his kind stop being able to have children unless they find their mate. Thinking to make the most of his free time, Zarek goes out to find a woman. Little did he expect Keren. Keren is more than a normal human, she's a slayer from a family reknowned for not caring whether the supernatural is white, black or grey. But Keren's different, she doesn't see things quite the same way, and now she has to come to terms with something new, something she can't quite explain...

Tipping the Scales, and the previous novella in the series (Romancing the Recluse by Michelle M Pillow), is a quick streamy read which still managed to create an intrigueing and different mythology than any I've come across before. Dragon shifters fitting into the human world is a bit trickier than wolves or big cats after all!

I did think that Tipping the Scales explored the world surrounding the characters a bit more than Romancing the Recluse did, though I think some of that could have been to do with it being the second book in the series so having more of a base to work on.

Though the book sin this series are written by two different authors, it is clear that there was good communication in the writing process, and though I personally could tell that they were written by different authors (other than knowing anyway!) they worked as a series well together!

I have read a lot of Mandy Roth books and originally bought this one in May 2012. Since then I have read it at least three times, and I was more than happy to read it again. I really love this book.

It begins with the nearly 600 year old dragon shifter Zarek of the Dracodomus, an arrogant, I love me who do you love? type character having a pity party because, unless he finds his 'one' before his 600th birthday in a few months time, he will become impotent. He's not really interested in being tied to the same woman for eternity, but his race is dying out and mother nature has decided that frightening the males into mating is the only way to get them to give up their batchelorhood. Between a desire to remain unmated and the hunting of his race to near extinction by the slayers of old, primarily the Brandt family who forgot they were supposed to be hunting evil and just went with hunting everything supernatural, there are very few of the Dracodomus left and neither his twin brother nor their remaining cousins have found their 'one' yet. But then you need to actually look for something if you hope to find it. Like looking for a needle in a haystack? Ah, well...

Out hunting a woman to have sex with, Zarek hits his favourite club (the proverbial haystack) and sees a woman that draws him like no other (the proverbial needle). Not really his type, and immune to his saliva secreted aphrodisiac, she is, he fears, his 'one'.

Keren has been dragged out clubbing by her daytime workmates and seems to be attracting all the wrong sorts tonight. Especially the arrogant one whose kiss made her feel positively sick and got a punch in the face for his trouble. Keren decided it was time to leave, especially since she became aware of the vile demon preying on women.
