Received this watch today (excellent service from Amazon), but unfortunately it will be going straight back without even being taken out of it's presentation box:- the many recent reviewer's complaints about the excessively light action of the buttons are correct, they activate at the slightest touch - it's ridiculous. Given this, I,m also extremely sceptical that they'd be water-resistant (let alone to 100m as claimed), and sure enough there are many reviewers have had problems in this regard (check out the US, dot-com Amazon site).
But here's the thing - I already HAVE one of these watches, bought in late 2012, now looking a little 'care-worn' but still working perfectly (new battery last April, after over 4 years), and the buttons on it feel *much* more solid, needing what must be several ounces of pressure, i.e.you need to grip the case between thumb and forefinger to use them, which I'd would always expect unless the buttons are recessed.
Edit >> OK, the 1-star review is a little harsh (and I've amended it to 3) as the issue with the buttons doesn't make the watch completely useless (a PIA, yes). However, if it doesn't keep out water while swimming, or sweat while running or cycling, then it simply isn't an "Ironman" (triathlon) watch and hence "not fit for purpose" (putting aside the likelihood of accidental button-presses making the use of the chrono problematic). Many people (like me) will buy them on the assumption they're at least up to general outdoor activities/sports or manual work, and I'm not optimistic about that. The plastic buttons are moulded to metal pins which pass through the case, and these have tiny circular seals on them which are pulled against the inside of the case to keep out water (hence the instructions not to operate them under water), and I just can't see how such light return-springs as on this watch is actually going to keep them watertight.
