About the Author

Rachel and her partner, Susan, are raising their young son in western New York, where during the winter they make the most of the lake effect snow on local ski slopes, a hobby that inspired her second novel, Trails Merge. In the summer, they love to travel and watch their beloved St. Louis Cardinals. Regardless of the season, Rachel always makes time for a good romance, whether she's reading it, writing it, or living it.

A clever and inventive story which took me by surprise. I like Rachel's style of writing; concise, very descriptive and flowing. This is a book with a difference, and again with likeable but flawed characters. I wanted to give Stevie a shove on more than one occasion but that's part of her charm...

HASH(0x9504aee8) out of 5 stars Misleading blurb; easily forgettable story 21 April 2014
By Anne - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
This is a YA/NA story and the blurb should have described it as such. I almost DNF’d this book at the 35% mark, especially because I wasn’t expecting so much high school drama. I didn’t like how bullying was addressed, the whole thing didn’t seem natural to me. You know when you read something and hear the author, not the character? Some dialogues are similar to short educational lectures or speeches.

Suicide is not an easy topic, but the author was able to show the tension between Stevie and her friend Kelsey, and I admire her for that. Stevie feels helpless in her effort to make Kelsey change her mind and their friendship adds depth to the plot. That moment when Stevie sees Kelsey at the hospital was touchingly portrayed.

Jody, the closeted teacher, is my favorite character. Her slow-burn romance with Stevie was cute, but easily forgettable, just like this story.

HASH(0x9504af3c) out of 5 stars An Engaging Romance 6 April 2014
By Jamie - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
This was an engaging Lesbian romance, with a time travel element, which gave the heroine an opportunity to redo parts of her history and hopefully create a better future for both herself and her friends.

I liked the way the author dealt with important social issues as part of the story: bullying, bigotry, homophobia, and suicide.

I will definitely read other novels by this author.

HASH(0x9b157390) out of 5 stars I'm impressed... 5 May 2014

This was very engaging!

I got a few hints from readers that there was a YA thread going on in this book, but there was a spin on it becasue it had the whole "back to the future" vibe. We may have had a good chunk of the main character's teenage life under a microscope, but it was seen through an adult's eyes. A raunchy adult at times I might add (which tickled me to no end). So is it really a YA? It felt pretty mature to me.

I enjoyed this book a lot. It surprised me. I can't recall reading any of this author's books in the past but I'm a fan now. It's funny, smart, educational (which can be great sometimes), great dialogue (really great), great character growth and study (Jody = super sexy), decent supporting cast and two very engaging ladies that I loved reading about (Stevie = adorable!). I like how the lead wasn't very mushy but found her own way of navigating romance. That made it all feel very real to me. Yeah, some science-fiction was thrown in so prepare to suspend reality, but I read this in a single day so yeah, it's very much so worth the effort.

Great job Ms. Spangler. You're awesome and I'm buying all of your books. Probably in a span of days. And probably with money that I shouldn't be spending. 5 stars for thoroughly entertaining me and delivering a steamy love scene that didn't fade to black.

HASH(0x9b157378) out of 5 stars I loved this book. 12 April 2014
By pippa1847 - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
It was a lot of fun, and begged to be read in one sitting. It started out as a standard romance, with the lead character shy and unwilling to change. Throw her into her old town and a visit to her old school and she is in for enough problems to kick off the story. Add a gorgeous teacher for whom she had the hots and I thought standard, but fun. Except, that’s where Spangler really throws us for a loop and the story becomes something deeper and much richer. She took me on a ride I wasn’t expecting, but she writes so well that it all worked really seamlessly. I liked the characters, enjoyed the story and highly recommend this book.

I loved this book. Rachel Spanglers books just seem to get better and better. I almost died laughing when Stevie got sent back in time to her senior year of high school. She took it well, I finished school 4 yrs ago and despised every minute but Stevie just went with it. It had a lot of laughs and also some serious parts. Stevie has a lot of guts I cant imagine making out with a student teacher in her car . Stevie didnt seem to mind she was under the roof of her parents again she liked it. I loved the way that she was horrified at how bad technology was. I do remember the dial up tone for the internet but untill it was mentioned I forgot you couldnt use it if someone was on the phone. She reached for her iphone and remembered it hadnt been invented yet. I loved what happened with Kelsey its nice to have someone believe you even if you do sound mental and its great to have a happpy ending. She was in love with a student teacher for ten long years andit finally paid off. it was great to see Rory and Beth again and I loved the little mention of Kelly. The whole book ended happily ever after and I admire Stevie. If I was her I would have punched that Drew Philips guy a long time ago.
