A new mini-album on both 180g LP and CD from this acclaimed band based around a core trio with backgrounds in Fields of the Nephilim and Pink Floyd along with numerous friends and associates.
The lead track `Neversea' features The Mission guitarist Simon Hinkler guesting. The band are gigging in both UK and Europe to support.

The Eden House launched in 2009 with their debut album `Smoke & Mirrors'. It showcased four different female lead vocalists: Julianne Regan (All About Eve), Monica Richards (Faith & the Muse), Evi Vine and Amandine Ferrari, alongside a stellar line-up of musicians. A good number of `album of the Month/Year' accolades were received and they went on to tour and headline festivals in the UK, Germany, Belgium and Poland. In early 2010 `The Looking Glass' followed, a live DVD issued together with a covers EP CD.

Now they release a mini-album, `Timeflows'. The title track is a 13-minute epic in two parts. Vocals are taken by Valenteen, Amandine Ferrari and Meghan-Noel Evans. They are backed by the core trio of Steven Carey (This Burning Effigy, Adoration), Tony Pettitt (Fields of the Nephilim) and Andy Jackson (the twice Grammy-nominated Pink Floyd engineer, and Fields of the Nephilim's epic `Elizium' producer), together with Simon Rippin (Nephilim/Nefilim), Bob Loveday (Bob Geldof, Penguin Café Orchestra etc) and guest guitarist on the lead track `Neversea', Simon Hinkler (The Mission).

I wanted to give this 5 stars, but when a release is only 4.5 tracks long (as track 5 is really an extension of track 4) youhave to nail every track and although tracks 1,3,4,5, arer all great I thought 2 was just OK - in fact a cover of an 'All About Eve' song. 2 other minor quibbles are that I don't think the vocals are as strong as the previous 2 releases and it is a collection of songs that don't quite fit together due to the varying styles. Smoke and Mirrors all sat together perfectly.

Having said all that, you should still buy it if only for track 4 (and therefore 5) which is outstanding. But after Smoke and Mirrors.

Bearing in mind that The Eden House are a collective that encompass musicians and collaborators of Fields of the Nephilim, NFD, Adoration, Pink Floyd, Van Morrison and now The Mission, it shouldn't come as much of a surprise that what we have with the "Timeflows" EP is a collection of songs that collectively defy any sort of pigeonholing. The First track - Neversea features Simon Hinkler of The Mission and his influence is unmistakable, it's a song that's pretty much as good as anything that The Mission ever recorded yet is also unmistakably "Eden House" aswell - due in no small part to Valenteen's vocal (by the way, as the lead song from the album The Eden House have also recorded a video for this track - well worth viewing). The second track, Into The Red, could easily be All About Eve at their best whilst the third track, The Only One, is something a little different: Think Alison Moyet in her Yazoo years meets Depeche Mode's Ultra and you're only halfway there. The final track, Timeflows, is a little more familiar - it has echoes of The Eden House's own To Believe in Something plus elements of Fields of the Nephilim's Elizium whilst, like its preceding tracks is still unmistakenly Eden House.

Despite being a "melting pot of influences" this recording sounds extremely fresh and is uniquely "Eden House". Whilst it may not be the full length offering of Smoke and Mirrors, the quality of the songs are just as good and it's a far more cohesive and consistent package than The Looking Glass, their previous CD/DVD release.

Did you buy Smoke & Mirrors?. If you did youll know just have wonderful this band is and this CD doesnt dissapoint. If you didnt let me explain that beautiful all female voices over superb instrumentals make this composite band the best or in my opinion better, music since this mortal coil or DCD. OK this CDs short but its superb, if you prefer quality to quantity youll understand. Casuals who want beautiful music, especially like me fans of This Mortal Coil, Cocteau Twins or Dead Can Dance, buy Smoke & Mirrors first, I guarentee youll love it, then buy this. fans already! buy it . youll want more true, but its still excellent and yes a privalage to own. At least well all be encouraging real & genuine talent, not dross.
