This book is reminiscent of one by Robert Ludlum, Tom Clancy or David Baldacci. It deals with a world threatening event with one man, framed for a crime he didn't commit, who has to convince the authorities of what is happening and while he is not believed has to face the problem on his own. I recognised the style of storytelling but I didn't think that the author quite pulled it off here. I just didn't feel the world wide scale of the issue and the degree to which Quinn is on his own and personally under threat. I can't work out exactly what the issue was for me but perhaps there wasn't enough detail ? The virus didn't seem too threatening, I didn't see the childhood of the sniper in detail, and the event which caused Quinn to be pursued seemed to be a bit too easily resolved - maybe I needed more people to suffer more ?
I may have appreciated this book more had I read the prior volume(s) and I would definitely have understood the implications of the ending better. I received a free copy of this book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
