From the Back Cover
This is the thirtieth anniversary of one of the most popular picture books ever written. This special anniversary edition celebrates its timeless appeal.
Sophie was just having tea when the door bell rang. Who could it be? It couldn’t be the milkman or the grocer or Daddy, because he had a key of his own and didn’t need to ring. Sophie opened the door to a wonderful, big, furry stripy tiger. ‘Excuse me,’ said the tiger politely. ’Do you think I could have tea with you?’ ’Of course,’ said Sophie’s mummy. Sophie loves her unexpected visitor and the tiger tries his best to be well-behaved but he just can’t help causing problems. After all, he is very hungry.
A reassuring, funny story with a hint of anarchy which has delighted children ever since it first appeared.

The illustrations are lovely and really add to the story with plenty of detail and a retro charm that is fascinating to my son.
I would recommend this to all parents who want something gentle, silly, and interesting to read to a small child. My son certainly had his imagination stoked by this!
