POWERED BY BRIGGS & STRATTON
This Tiger lawnmower is powered by a 140cc Briggs & Stratton 500E Series engine. Powerful, inherently reliable and remarkably fuel efficient, the 500E Series is one of the best selling family of lawnmower engines ever.
SELF-PROPELLED FOR AN EASIER CUT
For an easier cut, this mower features a self-propelled drive system, with the Briggs & Stratton engine providing cutting and motive power. With the mower propelling itself, all you need to do is walk behind and guide the mower.
POWER ON DEMAND
For easier mowing, this lawn mower features a handlebar mounted throttle lever. When cutting areas of longer grass, advance the throttle for maximum cutting power. In areas of shorter grass, retard the throttle to lower emissions and reduce fuel consumption.
IT'S A STEEL
This Tiger mower incorporates a tough, steel cutting deck finished in Tiger Orange and featuring a corrosion resistant coating for a longer service life, unlike plastic deck mowers it will never crack, warp or splinter.
3-IN-1 COLLECTION SYSTEM
The TM4618SP benefits from a 3-in-1 collection system. If you prefer to collect your clippings you'll appreciate the 60 litres capacity collection system. For those who prefer a natural finish, then you'll welcome the side-discharge system which can be fitted in minutes with no tools required. And for those who prefer to mulch their clippings and return vital moisture and essential nutrients to the soil, a mulch plug is supplied as standard.
SINGLE LEVER HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT
For ease of use, this mower benefits from Tiger's single-lever height adjustment system. You can choose from no fewer than 8 different heights of cut, ranging from 20mm to 80mm and ensuring there's a height to suit every lawn and every season.

On the plus side the engine us good and starts on the first pull every time, the machine also cuts the grass well and the height adjustment goes low enough for my liking (I like short grass).
I wasn't expecting much based on the price but it has actually really surprised me. The height adjustment is really handy as some parts of my garden can get pretty wild and this accompanied with the side discharge makes it a breeze.
I will admit that it is basic but I have bought lawn mowers which are much more expensive than the Tiger and they don't do half as well, basic is exactly what I needed.
Considering ordering another for a friend as a gift. His lawn really needs some help.
It did get up and running once this was overcome but there are a few basic issues with the machine
1) Even at fastest throttle rating it is pretty slow - slower than any mower I've had before or use as a groundskeeper. Tested against an old sovereign and it was a lot slower even at max throttle.
2) The handle is very low so in order to push (as you will want to in order to keep a slow walking speed) if you are tall it becomes
uncomfortable to handle as you are 'stooping' to get force behind to push. This is partly a balance issue as the shallower angle is
moving the control levers further behind the rear axle so it feels at times like you are fighting to stop the front wheels lifting. Other people notice this as soon as they touch the handle.
3) The lever for the cut height setting does not engage fully into the slots as you move the cut to higher settings - this means that
the slightest jolt on the rear wheel causes the height leaver to slip and drop into a lower setting and on highest it is almost certain
to drop to one of the lowest 2.
This could be such a good machine as the side discharge function is something I find really useful at times and the faults are not really a problem with the pricing point but just poor design and obviously a lack of rigorous testing in a real world environment.
The plus points are the multi-function and indeed the machine handles much better with the side discharge mode which is a big bonus at this price point.
I can't live with this machine as is sadly and the suppliers have now kindly agreed to return the machine for a refund.
If you want the features (particularly side discharge) and are not going to be guiding the machine a lot I suspect on a flat regular shaped lawn it will be hard to get a machine that does what this one can. If the handle is raised, the machine balanced a bit better and a slightly better fit on the height lever (may have been a faulty one?) then I can see this being a popular low-end utility mower for medium sized lawns.
