Gives a detailed insight into an individuals service based on interveiws with the author. The narrative is backed up with some great photographs. Although the basis for the narrative is interesting the author has managed to write it in a style that can be tedious at times but overall worth sticking with. If you dont like the style of writing you can always look at the pictures !!

Good accounts by the crew members of the Tiger tanks which go a long way to understanding their operational capabilities and maintenance issues.

HASH(0x9171a318) out of 5 stars "The Tiger Project" - a human look at German soldiers 3 Oct. 2004
By Dan Misera - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover
Contrary to everything that I learned growing up in the post-WWII days - the German soldier was no different than our soldiers throughout history including our modern day army.

I've read both books now in "The Tiger Project" series and the human side of both of the German tank soldiers highlighted is very eye-opening.

I'm happy to be able to read and understand the perspective from our former enemy -- and most importantly to realize that the one-time enemy soldiers were no different than the rest of us.

"The Tiger Project: Rubbel" & "The Tiger Project: Kronke" are excellent reads - great insights into the typical German soldier's mind and , there are great pictures to illustrate the story !!

I highly recommend both of the books in the series thus far.

HASH(0x9171a36c) out of 5 stars If you are a Tiger or a book maniak or both as I am, you MUS 31 May 2004
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover
I know Dale Ritter and Alfred Rubbel personally. Rubbel is an amazing guy and in very good shape! I've just met him 2 weeks ago.
I like that Rubbels book has many pictures with long captions starting with him as a recruit and then with the Panzer IV. It's an easy and fast read. He also tells some really personal stuff he first wasn't sure to do. It's a wonderfull story of an even more wonderfull man.
As a Schiffer books it's beautiful and it's amazing what they made out of the small original pictures!
If you are a Tiger or a book maniak or both as I am, you MUST have it.

This is the third in the Tiger Project series. A little less impressive than volumes 1 & 2, but not to be missed. I hope that there are additional books to be done.

HASH(0x9171ab94) out of 5 stars Alfred Rubbel 22 Nov. 2005
By Amazon Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover
The book is about a German tiger tanker, named Alfred Rubbel. This Alfred Rubbel did write some kind of personal memory about his time in world war two. The book is illustrated with a lot of pictures showing mostly A. Rubbel himself, the main reason why most of them are unpublished. A lot of unpublished useless pictures are included, e.g. certifications of Rubbels medals in full size of a book page. The written text of the book is not very long or informative. It is some kind of personal memory of Rubbel, but it is neither detailed on his combat duty nor on his personal life or experience of war. The titel of the book is: The Tiger Project: Schwere Panzer (Tiger) Abteilung 503. You get not much information about Rubbels time with the 503. This is the reason why i bought it, and why I am very dissapointed by this book. It looks like a work of an old man who did write something together without real structure or plan plus a lot of useless pictures. The editor have done a poor job in this way. By the way, the book have only 140 pages. After reading this book, i will not buy any further book edited or written by D.R.Ritter.
