Top customer reviews
Measuring in at approximately 26 cm x 23 cm, appealing paperback covers open to 30 high quality shiny pages in the popular 2-page spread format, with super illustrations which are further enhanced by meaningful facial expressions!
From the back cover:-
'Octopus has eight twisty tentacles and he loves using them to tickle the fish.
But when one day Octopus tickles Oyster, she drops her precious pearl and it is lost.
Will Octopus be able to get it back?'
Example of the lively and descriptive text :-
'Down in the ocean, among the swirling seaweed and the colourful coral, lived a tickly octopus.
He had eight twisty, twirly tentacles and he loved to use them to tickle.
When Octopus tickled the little fish they jumped and jiggled and wriggled and giggled!
They thought tickling was wonderful fun!.........'
However, not all his oceanic friends agree and make it quite clear!
But, Octopus can't help himself......until the day he goes a bit too far!
As a startled Oyster loses her pearl with a PING! BIP! BOING! over the rocks and into the depths of the ocean........Octopus is off on a speedy rescue mission!
Enhanced text (capitalised in places FOR EFFECT), makes this a great story for those who like a bit of adventure, and allows younger ones to join in with the WHOOSH! and SWOOSH! as Octopus successfully uses all his remarkable new-found talents to get out of some close shaves and to retrieve the lost pearl........eventually!
Younger audiences love the 'tickle' theme presented in this book, but it also carries a subtle message about when 'enough IS enough', too!
The illustrations offer oodles of scope for further discussion and follow-on artwork exercises have proved popular as little ones draw and colour the various images of Octopus - some quite simple but ALWAYS with 8 legs!
Older listeners also pick up additional information without realising,
'With a spurt and a squirt, a belch and a squelch, Octopus sprayed a cloud of black ink........'
A super follow-on for older children from:-
Fidgety Fish and Friends, with its glittery enhancements.
The book is great to read, with fab simple language, I've now also bought these series of books for three of my friends toddlers too. Can't recommend them enough.
