Through Her Eyes was full of storyline surprises - nothing massively major perhaps, but little hints at secrets, and visions of what lies ahead!

Enter Aria Bennett; a lost, torn, and in her words "toxic" young woman anxious to get out and explore the world, but thanks to the dismissive upbringing from her parents, she is absolutely terrified to take that first step out of her comfort zone.

Ava, I think, does a marvellous job - and there's no other word for it - in seeing Aria being coaxed from her fears and phobias into stepping out to experience the adventures that life has to offer us. Our other main characters - her elder brother Owen who watched over her as she grew up, protecting and loving her each step of the way, is also the basis for many of her fears - but not for the automatic reasons we might assume! Her best friend Parker who is never far from her thoughts, and whom she wishes was with her every step of the way. Sophie is her only female friend - who we meet at brief intervals but Ava has built a strong character here that although we don't encounter her too often, her strength of loyalty is all too obvious. And then there's poetic Chase - who appears a handsome stranger, and so quickly becomes so much more.

I have to say I felt for all the characters throughout the entire book - and found it very difficult to stop reading in order to drive home from work!! There were a few moments where I definitely teared up, especially a defining scene between Aria and Parker which hit a very personal memory for me. It isn't often I come across a book that will bring me to tears though, which was another big plus point for me in the marking of Through Her Eyes.

If I could give this book 10 stars I would. I knew Ava was a wonderful author but this book has blown me away. My heart was broken, I sobbed, I laughed, I got angry and I also smiled a lot. It's so wonderfully written,, the description of places, people, feelings is so beautifully done that you feel part of the story, almost as an intruder, just sitting on the sideline watching everything develop in front of your eyes. This amazing book will take you on the most incredible emotional roller coaster ride , it's gripping, captivating and makes you question lots of things. Aria is an incredible complex character, she's been through so much heartbreak that in trying to please others and become someone she wasn't, she lost herself along the way. Chase is amazing, so sure of himself, profound, sexy but in his own way he is also looking for his own place in life. Together this two wonderful characters will help each other find what they are looking for and realise that sometimes we need to go through pain and hardship to be able to live a fulfilled life. This is a total must read that will captivate you from the very beginning.

Ugly cry alert!!! Ava Harrison really puts her characters and readers through the wringer in Through Her Eyes. It's an emotional, stressful and at times, heartbreaking coming of age story. I can honestly say it wasn't anything like I was expecting and bought out all the feels!

I often moan how tricky it is to review certain books without posting any spoilers but with Through Her Eyes it really is difficult! The beauty of the story is in not knowing the secrets and experiencing Aria's trauma and joy right along with her.

I really liked Aria and felt as though her pain was palpable, hence the ugly crying - never has a title been more apt. Her doubts and guilt came through with every page. I could visualise the different locations and I kept arguing with myself as to exactly what had happened. Did I figure out the big reveal? Yes I did, but it really didn't matter as I found myself asking what I would have done in her situation, then rapidly hoping I never am.

Chase was almost everything I could hope for in a BBF. I did think he was almost to good to be true at times and couldn't decide whether I found his eagerness endearing or somewhat stalkerish?!

It did seem as though events conspired a little quickly at times, but I really felt as though I had seen Aria's story from her POV. My only real complaint was that I read the story before bed and spent most of the night awake snivelling afterwards...

4 - 4.5 Stars in my Sky!
