The first in a new MC series, The Assassins of Youth MC and opens the world to a unique setting for an MC read, in a Mormon sect. This was a new one on me!

Gideon Fortunati, is sent to Utah, by the MC Pres, to set up a business deal with the sect leader, Allred Lee Chiles. It is here he sets eyes on Mahalia Warrior who also happens to be the latest of Chiles’ wives (his 40th!). Even in the drab garb she is wearing, Gideon feels an attraction to her.

Mahalia was brought into the Church of Good Fortune after her husband dies and is made one of the wives. She has a fifteen year old daughter and when Chiles orders that she be married to one of the other elders makes Mahalia take drastic action. When she hears the pipes of the bike pulling up she takes a look out the window and see the sexy biker for the first time. One look at Gideon has her secret fantasy running into overdrive.

This was an unusual read for me and I must admit some of the dialogue had me stopping and reading back a few times to try and grasp what was being said, however it was an interesting and intriguing storyline. The romance element was an almost instant love that I would have liked to have felt more passion and angst as part of the build-up.

Overall a different MC read and stands out from the usual prose.
Three and a half stars.

I have enjoyed Layla's other series in the past and was lucky enough to get a copy of Through A Glass, Darkly to read and review. This is a new series and a has a bit of a different feel to her previous books (especially with the Mormon commune!) It took me a while to get into the book and connect with the characters, however once I had I really enjoyed this book. Although it has its moments it didn't feel as naughty as some of Layla's other offerings but I liked the spark between Gideon and Mahalia. I look forward to seeing how this series and the characters in the new MC chapter develop as the series progresses. In this book while telling Mahalia and Gideon's story Layla has done a great job of introducing lots of characters that I imagine will have great future storylines and I for one look forward to hearing their stories in the future!

When I first started reading this book, I found the dialogue and story quite difficult to follow. However, once I got to grips with it, it did start to flow a little easier.

The actual story line was interesting and had a different feel to a lot of other MC books that I've read so that was a big plus for me. Unfortunately, I didn't really connect with the characters and needed something more emotional from them. I would have also liked to have seen more of an emotional connection between our leads.

Overall an interesting story and a new series with lots of promise.

I was gifted a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This was such a different departure on a MC romance that I was used to reading by this wonderful author. It was fascinating and I couldn’t put it down!!! Mahalia is the 40th wife to a very strange cult leader, and she is not the subservient type we are used to reading about in the Polygamist lifestyle…far from it. Gideon a MC member that is sent a work a deal with their leader. Gideon is one sexy man and Mahalia definitely notices. They meet and there are twists throughout this book. This is one of Layla’s best work ever. I really enjoyed as the story progressed. A real winner and I highly recommend it!!!

HASH(0x9300c33c) out of 5 stars A FAST PACE STORY OF MC CLUB...OF MEN AND WOMEN FINDING SOMETHING IMPORANT ENOUGH TO FIGHT FOR. 24 Jan. 2016
By Sue Kay Davis - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
I WAS GIVEN THIS BOOK FOR AN HONEST REVIEW.....OVER 18 READING
Mahalia, a young woman with a daughter and husband...happy. Husband died and they come in back her stuff and take it somewhere, they take her to Cornucopia, Utah as 40th wife to Allred Lee Chiles (The Prophet, a false Mormon leader), now 5 years later he plans to marry her 15 year old daughter to an old man she doesn't know as his 3rd wife. Into town comes a man ,Gideon Fortunati, from Bullhead City, part of The Assassins of Youth (outlaw) MC. The Prez Papa Ewey sent Gideon and Tim Breakiron (a first rate nutcase in my book) Veep of the MC., down to make a deal with Allred Chiles about a load of guns , to set up a delivery. From the time they meet Gideon and Mahalia were drawn to each other, which would cause trouble of it's own. Her best friend and Sister wife Kimball who is the 39th wife and has three sons the oldest 12. But then he is told to stay till it is done and help Allred with his mine. These four lives will intertwine in more ways then one. with death a possibility for them and others and a certain for some. Mahalia wants to find a way out before they take her daughter and Kimball wants out to after a friend of her son( the same age) goes missing, she afraid that her boys will e next. Papa Ewey will decide that there should be a new charter there and wants Gideon to run it as prez. ,he will take a couple of guys with him and a guy who has been around forever but never prospected for any MC will join him and some of the boys kicked out of the group by The Prophet at 14-16 will prospect. They will buy homes, open new businesses, start to rebuilt the town as it was well on it's way to a ghost town because of Chiles and his evil ways. They will set up a way to help protect young girls who want out before being given to old men and young boys tossed out so they can't grow up and ask for one of the young girls as wife, preventing the old men from getting them all. Can the women get out? Can they save their children? Who will died? Who will be hurt? This story shows the MC for there good and bad sides..it shows how Yes something maybe bad but does it make up for all the good? I Loved this and would love to read more if there is more.

Through A Glass, Darkly (The Assassins of Youth MC #1) by Layla Wolfe
5 out of 5 stars
I was given this book for an honest review…..
This was a different kind of biker/MC book then Layla’s others. I loved it!!! The twists and turns. I always jump on the chance when Layla comes out a new book and this one didn't disappoint. Once you start reading you cannot put it down. I love the characters and the story.
Follow Gideon and Mahalia on their journey Through a Glass and discover the twists and turns in their story.
Gideon is an exiled outlaw, he’s a rebel, and he makes no bones about it. Mahalia is the dutiful, yet miserable, 40th wife of the Prophet Allred Lee Chiles who is the head of the Church of Good Fortune, a fundamentalist Mormon sect, he leads with an iron fist and twisted sense of morality.
Mahalia:
Allred Lee Chiles, my husband has turned me into a robot, unable to feel or think for myself. I’ve been looking through a cloudy glass, not trusting myself or others. Until Gideon Fortunati came down from the mountain, his name expressing all that he is—keeper of my fate, master of reality, teacher of my future. Gideon’s purifying power has enlightened me about my capabilities. I don’t have to let The Prophet take my daughter and marry her off to that old man. I was guilty of dirt and sin, but I can take my life back now.
Gideon:
I was exiled to this godforsaken wasteland in Utah by our MC Prez. My entire existence has been a struggle, a futile tirade against my maker. I ranted against my fate, and in answer I was sent Mahalia. A naive victim of that twisted false Mormon sect leader. He’s tried to mangle her like a spineless puppet, like he has all the other women—the other girls.

Before I met Mahalia, I was a child. Now I’ve given up my old ways, she has intrigued me and I will be a better man and free her and her daughter. I can see everything clearly now Faith, hope, and love were all handed to me, and the greatest of these is love. I’ve come too far. There’s no turning back now.

I cant wait to see what my favorite author Layla Wolf has in-stored for us in her next book!!!! Such a great read!!

HASH(0x936942f0) out of 5 stars Totally worth the $2.99,FLOVE this book 21 Dec. 2015

Through A Glass, Darkly is the first in the new Assassins of Youth MC series , and boy does Layla Wolfe come out will guns blazing in this book. She’s taken her signature smart and sexy, womanizing biker and paired him with a naïve yet willful beauty.
Gideon is an outlaw, a rebel, and he makes no bones about it. Mahalia is the dutiful, yet miserable, 40th wife of the prophet Allred Lee Chiles. As the head of the Church of Good Fortune, a fundamentalist Mormon sect, Chiles leads with a iron fist and twisted sense of morality. While Gideon has been accused of ruining women, never has he taken away their freedom, their free will. Seeing the abuses being heaped upon the women and children of Cornucopia he can not turn a blind eye to their plight. As his desire for Mahalia grows, so does his desire to the prophet fall from grace.

I have read several books in The Bare Bones and Bent Zealots series and I have become a real fan of Ms. Wolfe’s writing style. This book is no exception. The way she incorporates the often difficult subject of religion into an erotic MC story is perfection. Each page I read kept me wanting more. I had to know what happened next? Where would this wild ride on Gideon’s pussy pad take me?

Follow Gideon and Mahalia on their journey Through a Glass and discover the twists and turns that have made this my new favorite book by Layla Wolfe. I look forward to the next in the series and would definitely recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading well written stories with an adventurous and sexy theme. I happily rate this book 5 Stars!!

HASH(0x93694188) out of 5 stars Polygamy, what a twist! 27 Dec. 2015

My Review of Through a glass Darkly by Layla Wolfe
My Rating 5 Fortunati Stars!

Once again, I’m drawn into the reading world only Layla can write.
This story is different from what she has written before, yet not disappointing at all this book captivates you as the reader and tells you a story unlike you were prepared to read….It’s so much better.
Gideon and Mahalia are intense, we are given a glimpse into a world with sister wives and punishments, a leader who is truly sadist, there is pain and sadness and not your typical polygamist story but there is absolutely nothing typical about this book.
The writing and dialogue is phenomenal it’s brash, and raunchy but you can’t put it down, such an intriquing story, where we see courage and strength. Can’t wait for more!!

HASH(0x9300c858) out of 5 stars Great start to a New MC series 22 Dec. 2015
By Maddie.k - Published on Amazon.com

Another start to a fab series coming :)
This is book #1 and Wow your taken into a world that not a lot of people truly understand or want to understand.

Gideon was sent away from his club and boy he wasn't happy... Nope.
But as he's there to set things up and comes across Allred wow things are so not right with him, ( he had my fine hairs rising *Shivers*
When Gideon meets one of the wives there's this hope that takes grasp and you feel the whole book tilter.
Mahalia Warrior, She's like this compressed air that just needs to breath and feel the freedom again.
She's a true warrior she has to fight and once she sees Gideon the word Hope is re-lite
She has to dig deep to help her daughter.

This book was a gritty read and I loved every step I took through this book page after page your drawn in and love the duel POV it's written and done in such a way that not full details are given but your mind is there and can picture the scenes.
Once I started I sat up late in bed with my kindle nightlight going and a coffee I just couldn't pull myself away from this world is so fascinating and I loved Gid & Ma :D

A fantastic start and I recommend this book and go in with a clear mind your enjoy it.
Happy reading.
