Boss has been in love with Jen since he was 16 year old but his brother Kyle was also in love with her. She goes out with Kyle and at first they get on really well and they fall in love. When things start to turn bad, Boss is there to pick up the pieces and he and Jen find a love that surpasses anything they have ever felt before. Things turn sour when Boss's brother Kyle finds out and she up and leaves with Kyle and Boss doesn't see her for the next nine years. What was her real reason for leaving the man she truly loved ?
The story really picks up when they meet again and all the hurt, anger, pain and love resurface again to be dealt with. Lots of twists and turns, up's and downs, plenty of angst and Boss is an absolute darling.
A wonderful story that will make you laugh and cry. Dawn always has the ability to bring all her characters to life, so the reader can relate so much more, and we do !!! Always well written, I don't think Dawn can possible write a bad book, she has a amazing talent and I have read all her books and loved them. Not to be missed !!
D.H. Sidebottom has the ability to write a deep storyline, that grips you right from the very beginning and does not let you go until the very last page. The emotion that comes with her writing is superb. My heart went out to Boss and Jen throughout their story. The road to their 'Happy Ever After' was a complex one. The happiness they had when they were together, was like they were untouchable. The pure, deep love they held for one another, kept them together, even when they were apart. Then there was the destruction they would leave in their path, when they would be ripped apart once again.
Jen goes to extreme lengths to protect Boss for nine years. The only thing she had to hold onto during the abuse she endured over that time, was her precious memories of their time together. Boss is oblivious of the reasons behind Jen's choice, however when it all comes to light, it is his turn to try and protect her.
Despite the dark side of the story that focuses on domestic abuse, there is also light relief in the form of Boss's sense of humour. For all the sadness they both experienced, there was the perfect balance with happiness and love. In my opinion, 'Thrilling Heaven' is a wonderful story all round, which encompasses almost every human emotion within it's pages.
D.H. Sidebottom was already one of my favourite authors, and this has cemented her place in that list.
I laughed and cried through out this book.
Jen has a evil, nasty husband who abuses her and happens to be the brother of Boss. Boss is the love of her life, but when she was younger she was forced into marrying the evil brother to keep Boss safe.
Years pass, and the two meet in a tattoo parlour - both surprised and shocked to see each other again.
Boss storms off, not wanting to face her after all this time.
One of his band members Bulk, becomes friends with Jen and very soon realises what a difficult life and marriage she is in.
Between them, Jen gets the help she needs, and is re-united with her love for Boss.
The story is told from both sides, Jen and Boss (alternating every few chapters). Boss' story telling is so funny, there were some parts that had me is stitches.
Favorite scene for me - Boss dealing with Jen's period - I'll say no more :-)
