HASH(0x98a6739c) out of 5 stars Absolutely Oustanding! 1 Mar. 2000
By Nathan - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
I'd like to start off by saying that I haven't actually read this play; I've seen it. And it was absolutely amazing.
I'd never heard of it, but I preorder tickets for all of the shows at a local theatre, and this was the most recent.
Basically it is three different monologues, with the only things tying them together the tragedy of the tales, and the fact that they take place in a funeral home (hence the name "Three Viewings").
They are so perfectly written, so tragic and yet humorous that you don't know whether to laugh or cry yet somehow end up doing both. This is the most outstanding, touching, wonderful play that I've seen, and I've seen quite a few.
Buy the book, and you'll be doing yourself a favor. But if the play is every showing near you, get tickets immediately. It is an absolutely outstanding, unforgettable drama.
HASH(0x98a697bc) out of 5 stars Great script 11 Dec. 2012

Each of the three monologues is unique yet paralleled with the theme of death. Three cast members and a minimal set make for an inexpensive production lasting between 80-90 minutes. Characters speak directly to the audience and draw them in. Very emotional pieces that allow audience members to "bring their own experience of death and loss to the theater." Each piece takes a different twist that is very surprising and intriguing.
HASH(0x98b95570) out of 5 stars Funny, Touching, and Human 17 Dec. 2015

This marvelous play (which consists of three monologues) takes place in the viewing room at a mortuary. The mourner talks to the corpse and from that conversation, we learn all we need to know about the deceased and the person who is in mourning.

It's funny, touching and very, very human!
