This story is everything you need to perk you up on a crappy day. It is a beautifully written, funny, endearing story.
Usually I like a bit more tension in my books. I fell in love with Gen and her writing after having read Beautiful Masterpiece. Knowing her writing style was a joy, I decided to give her romcoms a go.
I can easily say, that was one of the best decisions I've ever made!

Melanie has been approached by her ex, Max and his husband, Jason to be their surrogate. Which she has agreed to. After Melanie and Max split up they had became best friends.
Ashe is a gynecologist and his marriage has just gone to shambles.
Melanie first meets Ashe when she goes to get checked out and ready for insemination.
And lets just say that was a very funny scene.
he had just gotten up close and personal with my vag, so it wasn’t like getting another peek would mean much. I was just thankful moths didn’t fly out.
There was something about Melanie that pulled Ashe in. He couldn’t stop thinking about her after her appointment.
Fate steps in and Melanie runs into Ashe at a club while she’s out celebrating with Max and Jason. From there things change for them in a good way.
I really enjoyed reading this story. I had so many LOL moments when it came to Melanie. Both Melanie and Ashe were great and I was so happy they found each other. The secondary characters added a great element as well. This was a very fun read, Gen Ryan does a great job of pulling you right in with her writing. I was very happy with the ending, couldn’t have been any better. I look forward to reading more from Gen. 1-click and get started today.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book. Reviewed by MAustin from Alpha Book Club
Ashe is completely amazing! Their chemistry and the connection between them was off the charts! They were so funny, and so sweet. I struggled with infertility and I know it’s a horribly heartbreaking situation. This reminded me somewhat of that… it can be a touching, a sad situation. For all the touching part, it was also so incredibly funny!
Gen Ryan wrote such a sweet romance. I adored it! Ashe will totally make ya swoon! Mel is someone that you’ll seriously be able to relate to. She’s sweet but has this honesty about her that you can’t help but like! Plus she’s so darn funny! I’d have love to be Mel’s bestie! I’d definitely recommend this to anyone that enjoys a sweet romance with little angst, lots of humor and heart.
I received an ARC of this book with the hope that leave an Unbiased Opinion. I was not required to leave a review, positive or otherwise, and my opinions are just that... my opinions.
Melanie is such an amazing person! She is loyal, and loving, and giving. She is the best kind of friend. She is open and funny, and most importantly, forgiving. She takes those that have done her wrong, forgives them, and becomes friends! And she will do anything for her friends.
Ashe is true diamond in the rough. Outward first impressions would say he is one kind of person, but he's a real Prince Charming. The way he accepts Melanie and her situation without blinking an eye is just beautiful. I love the way he truly appreciates her for who she is.
This story has the makings for an epic fairy tale: love at first sight, evil (not step) mother, a crazy ex instead of mean stepsisters, and a princess that finally found her prince after kissing alot of frogs! (She's not really a princess, but you get the idea!) This is a feel-good story that brings out the best and worst in humanity, and shows that there is hope for anyone!
Not only did Melanie not have a significant other when she got pregnant she had herself inseminated with her ex boyfriends sperm. Yes, you read that right! She was so selfless that she was more than willing to have her ex boyfriends and his husbands child.
Melanie had already won over my heart when she went into her gyno appointment before insemination and made me laugh so hard I woke up my husband from his sleep.
There wasn't anything about this story that I didn't love! Melanie made me laugh so hard at times, and that isn't something you get very often with romance. I love some great laughs between some heartbreak and love scenes. It just makes the story that much more believable and real!
The love for Melanie from her closest friends is amazing! Most people don't have the support system that Melanie did and it was so great to see that she had the support and love from those people that she surrounded herself with.
I cannot say enough about this book! It was one of my favorites from this year! I cannot wait to see what else Gen will come out with!!! If you are on the fence about this book, don't be!! Get yourself a copy and see for yourself how much of a great book this really is!
