This is a lovely little book which returns to Edward's branch line and the further adventures of Bill and Ben the china clay tank engines. The premise is that Thomas has to go and work on Edward's line while they do work on his branch line and this means that he meets Bill and Ben, who, needles to say, are as cheeky as ever! There's a nice range of stories (including the return of Trevor the Traction Engine) and the illustration is excellent (especially when Thomas crashes into a truck of eggs! The stories in this book never made it onto TV so they are less familiar than some of the older books.

I rented this book from a library in 2004.The stories are good and sort of funny. It's a shame these are out of print. In 'Scrambled Eggs' Thomas has to work on Edward's Branch and has an accident with a lorry. (Ha ha.) In 'What a Picture!' Enthusiasts come to visit and a photographer gets a surprise. (Ha ha again.) In 'Trevor Helps Out' Edward has mishap with trucks and Trevor comes to the rescue. To keep you in suspense, I won't tell what happens in the last story. I think this is a extremely good book.

Bought this book for my 2 year old along with others from the series. My daughter loves reading these at bedtime and pulling the same faces that the trains pull. She also loves the inside of the cover, playing "can you find....the clock" etc and pointing to it.
