If you haven't got this album in your collection, what have you been spending your money on? The first and best of two (alas!) great albums by the Macclesfield band has immortality written all over it. The singles Sleep and Time are highlights, but never do you feel that the music is substandard. Buy this, then buy The Program when you're hooked.

This album is indicative of what was on the side of the whole Britpop craze in the mid-nineties. Marion managed to distance themselves from the more commercially-sounding music around at the time (Sleeper, Echobelly, Blur, Supergrass....) by writing music with a real raw edge. Music that sounds as good now as it did years ago. Definately recommended.

I first saw Marion on a Britpop tribute programme on the BBC along with other greats as sleeper, pulp, blur, supergrass. The only thing was they weren't britpop, brilliant none the less but come to the fore at the wrong time. Like other great bands such as Diamond Head, shed 7 they were harshly overlooked sleep, fallen through are brilliant musical masterpieces. It was a surprise to me that amazon actually had any reference to Marion, hopefully the program won't be the last we hear of them.
