This is the first book in the War & Peace series by K. Webster and what a start to this series it is!
Baylee Winston's life is forever changed the moment she is stolen from her home. Taken by someone who she has known and trusted most of her life, she is forced to do unspeakable things that will prepare her for what is to come next. What comes next is what anybody's worst nightmare would be, which is to be sold to the highest person bidding for her.
This is where we meet Warren "War" McPhearson. A handsome billionaire who had no idea what he was getting himself into when he purchases Baylee. War has his own inner demons that he faces every day and with the companionship of Baylee, he hopes to rid himself of these demons.
Lines are definitely blurred in this completely twisted story but I loved every freaking second of it! K. Webster is an evil genius that's all I can say! My mind has been officially blown with this book! I had a few choice words that I won't repeat when I finished this book! I will say that this book ends on a major cliffhanger, and if you are impatient like me and hate to wait for the next part of the book, then I recommend waiting for the next part to come out at the end of March. But if you can handle the wait then grab this book now because it is bloody fantastic!!!
If you love dark romances then you will love this truly and utterly messed up, mind blowing book!
The twists, the turns, the freaking brutality of it all. I was hooked. I felt such a connection with the main characters, but War might just be my top BBF of all time. I love how different he is, how complex he is. I love that he's just as broken as she is.
I stuck for words how amazing this book was!
I need the next one like I need my next breath! so many unanswered questions I NEED answers to!
that ending as well?! what's up with that? !
Anyway without spoiling anything, we go on a roller coaster ride with Baylee, Gabe and of course our broken War......I just wanted to cuddle him, bless him.
This book is the start of a brilliant series, I so can't wait for what K has coming up for us next!
The first book in a two part story of Baylee Winston who one night is kidnapped by a man well known to her and her family. A man she trusted and had come to like - a lot. He takes her and basically abuses her beyond belief with the aim in mind to train her to be sold to the highest bidder. We the reader are with Baylee as she goes through these life changing brutal events with a man who is evil and sadistic beyond measure.
Then we meet billionaire Warren McPhearson or "War" as he is called. This man has enormous problems of his own and he purchases Bayley for companionship mainly but doesn't bargain on his emotions and feelings getting in the way. He honestly doesn't realise he has bought her from a sex ring and is up to his neck in trouble.
My feelings were swayed from anger to hate, sadness and despair for Bayley and what she was put through, to what I can only call hope, happiness of sorts- a relief for her, that is until you come to this God almighty cliff hanger at the end !!!! Oh what wouldn't I have given to get my hands on the next installment of this truly remarkable book.
The character of War is a delight to read, I think I fell in love with this man the moment Baylee stepped into his car, I love how warm his heart is, love his attitude towards Baylee, his vulnerability, his struggle with all that his mind is dealing with.
Baylee- young but not so innocent anymore.Read more ›
I have a soft spot for War seeing as some of my family suffer with OCD. While some of his obsessive thoughts can seem quite amusing and weird, it's still realistic in how sufferers think and feel.
I'm not sure how I feel about Baylee...War's character seemed better written. Baylee's character is a bit of a conundrum! However, I definitely think she will come into her own in book 2.
The thing I struggled with understanding is as lovely as War's father was but knowing the things his son suffers with, when he discovered he had bought 17 year old Baylee, I would have thought the first thing he would do is take her away from his unbalanced son and return her straight to her family, nevermind if she protested?
I'm sure more will be revealed in the concluding book. Yes there is a big cliffhanger and I don't normally like continuation books but seeing as the second book will release in March, then I didn't mind as much and I'm looking forward to reading it. I have already guessed one thing that will come to light and I know that will be difficult for War to come to terms with...
