About the Author

Chris Stralyn never intended to be a writer. Short-order cook, security guard, safety officer, childcare provider, and teacher were all titles she’d worn – but never writer. Then she entered an essay contest for “The Worst Vacation Ever” and won. Writing became her new hobby, and soon she had several articles in print with local publications. This was followed by a short story, The Khaki Pants, which was published by RDR Publishing in an anthology that went on to sell over a million copies. A suspense thriller was her next undertaking, and in 2008 This Time You Lose was named a finalist in the TNBW Strongest Start Novel Competition. Four months later it earned the distinction of being a TNBW Readers Choice Top Ten Novel, and has remained on the Top Ten list ever since. Chris Stralyn continues to put pen to paper in her endeavor to appease the Muse within. She lives in Michigan with her husband and family.

This is the story of a burglary that goes horribly wrong.

Lisa is a daycare owner and a much liked person in her neighbourhood but things take a turn for the worse when her home is invaded one night.

Brilliantly written story which is full of tension and has very likeable characters (especially Lisa & Jeff).

Well recommended book for anyone who enjoys a good tense, action packed thriller.

Great psychological thriller - Lisa, who runs a daycare for neighbouring children, wakes to find herself tied up and gagged, imprisoned by four men. As her 'charges' arrive with their parents, children and adults are also taken hostage, leading to a stand-off with the police over a ransom. In her house, Lisa has to try to protect the children and the other parents from their captors, one in particular who seems to loathe Lisa and takes pleasure in making things difficult. A tense rollercoaster of a story, well-written with good characters - 8.5/10.

I felt as if I'd held my breath while reading this story until the very end - phew - not being sure what was going to happen next. It was certainly fast-paced, filled to the brim with action and extremely well-written. I also thought it was a wonderful exploration of what constitutes as evil - and Lisa found it in spades.

That's all I will say about the plot, I don't give spoilers, but if you like suspense and to sprint along with the characters at a an amazing pace, then you'll love this tale of right and wrong and how to be strong in the face of such wickedness.

Recommended.

Although I may have titled it differently, this book engaged me from the first page. I got this book as a freebie and on the off chance and I have to say, it blew me away!

The plot is engaging and intriguing and you do empathise with the parents and children and Lisa all the way through. This lady has a gift.

The characters are so well plotted you can envisage them with no problem at all - even the children are very realistically detailed for their ages and manners.

A freebie has definitely turned me from a freebie getter to a possible purchaser from now on.

What would you do if street thugs invaded your home? What if you're a daycare provider, caring for a dozen children at the time? Lisa Kaamp, a most unlikely heroine, faces just such a nightmare in This Time You Lose, the suspense driven story of one woman's struggle to survive when she and the children she cares for become victims of a home invasion gone terribly wrong. Lisa Kaamp operates a small childcare business out of her home in Nogeksum, Michigan. Highly respected and known for going the extra mile for her daycare kids, she thinks she's handled every daycare emergency possible. But nothing prepares her for the horror she now faces. Lisa finds herself bound and gagged, four strange men in her home, and the daycare children held hostage in the next room.

I downloaded this book while it was on the free list, but it would of been worth every penny if i'd of paid for it.
It's not often a book can suck me in so much that i panic over bad stuff and smile with every triumph. This well written book kept me gripped from begining to end,it was a joy to read.

I liked this book and found it hard to put down. The main character is gritty and believable and the baddies are bad!!! I didnt think this book needed answers to everything, in fact it made it more realistic. Sometimes bad things in life just happen there doesnt need to be a reason and often isnt. The story is compelling and believe me you will finish it quickly as you wont be able to put it down.

This book pulls you in from the first page and doesn't let go until the last! The characters are believable and not overdone. You really feel for Lisa and all the time you are wondering what you would do in her situation. The reactions of the children are spot on, because of their ages they do not all fully understand the danger of the situation and they still want to 'go potty' and complain about being bored and hungry! I really enjoyed this book and having read it would recommend it.

I liked the fact that the book got into the action really quickly but I was slightly annoyed by Lisa who was just a pit too perfect and got fed up hearing about how much all the children loved her. Out of the four intruders, two of them were pretty pointless characters. Lisa's husband and son were also mentioned quite frequently but this was also pointless as his reaction to what happened is just skimmed over.
