Tense and violent rural thriller, set on the moors in the north of England. Spike (Michael Colgan) and Heaton (Kenny Glenaan) are two mismatched loners travelling together. When the disturbed Spike accidentally commits a violent crime, Heaton decides that his only option is to help the younger man escape across the moors before a gang of enraged farmers can capture him. Together the two men are chased to the brink of exhaustion, but when Heaton is injured and is unable to go on, Spike has to decide whether he will stand by his friend in turn, or run for safety.

It seems to me that the film contrasts the aimlessness of the two dreamers who struggle to face the gravity of their situation (even taking a minor excursion to trip-out on lighter gas), with the cold realism of the farmers who work from morning till night and are no strangers to death.
Another major theme is friendship and loyalty, both of the two itinerant outcasts facing the wrath of the settled community they have disrupted, and of the historic, familial and territorial bonds that unite the farmers in their hunt.
Although very low budget and very bleak plot, the film has moments of dark humor, it is well acted, and I enjoyed the soundtrack.
I only paid £1.25 for it, so it's no big loss, but I won't be watching it again.

The film was shot on a digital camcorder (PD150) but I have seen other films shot on digital camcorders that are not only much better, but which have cost around 10 thousand pounds to make. If this film had been shot for 10 thousand I'd give it three stars and say it was a good effort. But for the money invested, this film really makes you feel cheated out of your money.
The acting is pretty poor, and the direction is average. You have to bare in mind that the director shot the whole thing in 2 weeks, so she was obviously not going to produce her best direction. The script was a bit shoddy, but then that was also written in 2 weeks, so again you take it into consideration. I thought the photography and shot composition overall was pretty good, but at the end of the day this is a film, and as such, the story and acting is what matters, and they fall flat on their face.
Overall, very disappointing.
